For the next weight class, we're going to take a look at 157/150.

Another weight class that Penn State leads the way during the Cael Era on the strength of Jason Nolf's 3 NCs, Haines NC and several other top 3 placements by Nolf, Haines, Kasak, DT and Dylan Alton. This is Nebraska's best weight class in a strong 2nd with 11 AAs capped by last season's NC run by Antrell Taylor. Iowa is in 3rd with a 16 year streak of having a qualifier at the weight class. Despite IMar's 2 championships, Illinois does not crack the top 10 because he accounted for 47 of their 52.5 points.

Prior to Cael, this was Illinois's best weight class with 2 NCs and 9 AAs by five different wrestlers. This was Boise State's only appearance on a top 10 list thanks to Ben Cherrington and Larry Quisel. Penn State barely cracked the list with 4 AAs (2x Musser, R. Hughes, Vallimont). Nebraska wasn't as strong during this time period but did have a NC from Jordan Burroughs and a 4x AA career from Bryan Snyder.

Penn State's recent success was enough to edge out Nebraska for 1st place over the combined time periods. Iowa is in a strong 3rd with 30 NQs out of 31 tournaments with 3 national champions and 17 AAs. This has been a weaker weight class for Oklahoma State even though they have had qualifiers for 29/31 tournaments.

Here's the Penn State lineup for the last 31 seasons with Nebraska's also included. Nebraska has been on a nice recent run with 11 AAs out of the last 13 tournaments.

Others have already said but just wanted to reiterate how much fun these are to review and recall. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting!
I remember being so pumped about a PSU wrestler just placing at Big Tens or the NCAAs and these charts bring back so many great memories.
But what a period we’re enjoying now! Thanks brother!

This is a real b!tch of a weight class year in / year out. McIllvary, Williams, Nolf, & Martinez all taking losses at some point. Mix in a few Olympic champs (Burroughs & Taylor) and medalists (Dake) and you have your work cut out to win 157.
