And Dabo would rather risk the football one more play than kick the field goal to put it in OT. Some of these coaches do stuff now that would make Bear Bryant and Vince Dooley turn over in their graves.
Well....... to be fair, I'm almost positive there were 12 seconds left and almost positive they had 1 timeout left. They were in position to score a TD and win the game, and winning is the object. - If there were only 8 seconds left....yeah, kick the FG but 12 seconds and 1 TO is all you need. Generally speaking, I think Dabo is a fraud of a coach, but I don't knock him for trying to score there.....
Well, his own people are knocking him today, as I learned when I encountered some of them at a restaurant last night and also on Facebook last evening. They're all wishing it had gone into overtime and I'm sure Dabo wishes it also.
Yes, I get it, but if they get the ball back after scoring, they don't have to go ALL the way down the field.... Only to the 35 or so. You can argue both ways.... One of those things that you just make a decision and go with it.
The previous course of the game in short yardage situations dictated taking the points there and trying to score another way when they got the ball again. They were never able to pound it against those boys. They gave away their last chance trying to do what they hadn't previously been able to do. And I say this also. Such a decision would have been questioned by many fewer of the faithful than the number who are questioning it today, same as with Dabo. Analytics aren't infallible. They just give coaches an alibi, as in, "Well, the analytics said..."
