So how is Ms. Excellence's endeavor to make PSU players entrepreneurial working out?

why would that be her responsibility? wouldnt that fall to CJF? He's got plenty of staff.Sounds like aTm is copycatting something that UT was reported to be doing. More power to them.

I agree, this is the world we live in. No need for contracts, they aint here, the NIL just goes awayI don’t see the big deal. Schools should be able to facilitate NIL deals and be able to pitch that as part of their offer. Tiptoeing around this isn’t going to work. All schools who can should be doing this to attract players. Make them sign contracts and protect your investment.
Cheat? Totally legal. PSU should be doing the same. I people want to throw their money at a bunch of high school kids so be it.I read that paragraph to mean that OU is willing to cheat, too, but won't pay as much as A&M and they feel this is wrong. That 1st sentence says it all.

It's only outrageous when you don't have the money to compete. By joining the SEC, OU needs to realize it's now pi$$ing in the tall weeds with the big dogs. It's either adapt or die. Texas has come around.
Because NLI extend beyond football and Franklin does so well with donors. Wait.....oh, nevermind.why would that be her responsibility? wouldnt that fall to CJF? He's got plenty of staff.
It is a clear violation of the NCAA guidelines on NIL. The NCAA did create some guard rails to prevent NIL from being used to induce players to attend a particular school. Now that we have Saban, Dabo and Kiffin saying this has to be addressed, I expect there will be more specific regulations. Remember the NIL has to be for a player to provide some type of service based on their NIL value to the organization or business. How many players in high school actually have brand value like that, and what is the business value?I don’t see the big deal. That’s what I was wondering. The payments are structured NIL contracts. What’s illegal about it?What Tx A&M is doing is no longer cheating. NIL deals
Kirby and Jimbo learned well under SabanA&M: "We are in the ESS EEE CEE now and have learned the Alabama method."

If this were to continue, then the logical end is for these teams to just be pros with the players not really having to be involved with the schools as students. they can just be entertainers like the NFL. then biggest bank account can purchase players. a school would have a kind of circus team to entertain the student and fans.
Creating LLCs for specific players is certainly not the NCAA's intent but the NCAA opened the can of worms and didn't define it. It's the wild west. What Tx A&M is doing is no longer cheating. NIL deals
The NCAA will lose if it wants to go the route of shutting down NIL based on valuation of player brand. The value is what the NIL deal says it is. Now the NIL being essentially a newly formed LLC for each player is suspect but if they specifically state that it is not permitted, they will just find another way around it. The NCAA will be plugging holes in outlawing methods until they are swamped with trying to figure out which new method of funneling money with NIL has popped up next. They will lose at whack a mole.It is a clear violation of the NCAA guidelines on NIL. I read on another board that Texas A&M's average NIL deal with each 2022 recruit is $223,000 per year - that's just insane. It's estimated that their donors have spent around $25 million - so far - on their no.1 rated 2022 class which is now rated the greatest class in the 247 Composite history ------ all of this after an 8-4 season in 2021. They just picked up their 6th five star recruit a couple of days ago and several others are high 4-star just outside being a 5-star. Texas is also getting almost every kid they're going after and the number of 2023 and 2024 recruits that both Texas schools are in on is staggering. They have those oil wells cranked on full blast down there. Jimbo's response is that it's been going on for years - just not disguised as NIL
I have to believe we're starting to see the beginning of the end of CF as we knew it. The people backing the NIL probably didn't realize how ludicrous it would get. Just sad.
Yeah, I think we can all agree - no matter what fan base you are a part of - that the NCAA is run by imbeciles.Everyone saw this coming but the NCAA, who was too stubborn or stupid and dug it's heels in on 'amateur athletics'. Sorry - when coaches and conferences are making millions upon millions of dollars, and when video games are putting players on the cover of it's packaging, it's not amateur athletics. The good news is there aren't that many schools with unlimited resources to pay players. If it's going to be about money, Texas and A&M should be dominant for years to come.

Does PSU have the ability to get its donors to pony up millions of dollars for a recruits? So far I can see 2 ways this all shakes out. One is that the MNC fades away and college football becomes a regionalized sport, or a tiered sport. Personally, I'll probably skip watchiing this year's championship because I'm tired of seeing Alabama in the game again. Two is that for the top 20 or 30 or 40 teams, they'll have football teams but get rid of the "student-athlete" vision and have a loose afiliation with the university.
Jimbo isn’t exactly a commanding presence.I’m sure these are all just NIL payments.
