Was reading an article about potential A&M candidates. Starting to see comments about coaches holding out for Saban to retire (Lanning for example). First cycle I’ve heard this discussed seriously

I think the reports of Saban's demise are greatly exaggerated. Before the season, folks speculated freely that Saban had lost his fast ball and was nearing the end. I didn't buy it for a second. Competition is what he's about. He's a football coach, everything else comes second. He may stay several more years. If he "died on the job" I wouldn't be surprised. He has it rolling so well I don't see him going anywhere.

I’m ready for a Saban like coach to be a real competitor, who likes a real challenge, like building a consistent winner at Mississippi State

Yeah. People have been saying he’s leaving ever since he took the Alabama job. Not to mention, is SMU good coach going to turn down a top job on the hood Saban will retire soon & he would be the choice to replace him? I think not. These speculations are ridiculous.

There’s been a lot of talk in Bama circles that Saban might hang it up after one more natty. Thinking is he wants to eclipse Bear and get #7, and that he’s also fed up with the NIL and portal nonsense.

Personally, I think that natty happens this year, because it has to. Saban’s retirement and Bama coming back to earth being timed exactly for when MSU no longer plays them annually is pretty much an iron clad guarantee.

I think this season is solid evidence that Saban has not lost it. They are a much better now that they were 2 months ago. That’s coaching.
