verbatim: "Cohen accepted this morning. Nobody thought he would. Raffo has to be crushed. Tell anybody that bashes him they are idiots. Post this if you like."

The guy was promised the world by a man that had no position to do so.... the guy has a huge chunk of his life here. I'm not gonna rip on him.

my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Mr. and Mrs. Raffo on the decision to name John Cohen as the next head baseball coach at MSU. I am so grateful that I am able to express to Tommy my most heartfelt and sincerest desire that he finds fulfillment in whatever pursuit he is afforded.

But I also don't see how anyone thinks the assistant coach from a team this bad, could be promoted to head coach. If Polk had retired last year, there is a 101% chance that Raffo would be the coach. If we had been decent this year, there's a decent chance. So if, and I don't know if he is, but if Raffo is looking for someone to blame this on, he could probably start with the current ball coach.

All of the animosity towards Raffo the last couple of months was all due to Ron Polk and his ******** 3 page endorsement that was instantly made public. Ron Polk can now go eat a dick in Arizona. Fair well you short, fat egostical cry baby! I do feel bad for Raffo, if indeed it is Cohen. But, you know what? If he really wanted to me the next man in charge, he should have taken it upon himself to recruit Top 10 classes these last few years and we'd be in much better shape than we currently are. Then, maybe, he'd have a leg to stand on. Maybe AU will surprise us and name him their next coach, and it'll be a win/win for all.

Ole Tommy Boy can thank Polk for MSU and Byrne not hiring him.
He retired a year late for him, but not for us Bulldog fans...

Good Luck Tommy & Welcome John.......

he should have retired after the CWS last year. Raffo would have been a slam dunk as the new coach.

I still want to think that there might be a place for Raffo at MSU, probably in administration. If not, I certainly would understand, though.

Sometimes, things that seem like the worst possible situation turn out to be great blessings. I think that this will turn into a blessing for Raffo. At MSU, most of the fans would not accept him, and it would be very difficult for him to succeed, even if he did a decent job. Now he can go somewhere, like a Samford, build a program and then move through the ranks.

John Cohen chose to go out and strive to make a name for himself and did nothing but be successfull everywhere he coached.

Tommy Raffo chose to ride it out with Polk and hope he would get the job because it was "his turn".

My way of looking at it says one guy chose to make his own way by going where ever he had to go and do whatever he had to do to prove he could lead a team and win , while the other guy chose to just sit and wait for Polk to hand him the job for staying nearby.

I hope Raffo is successfull in his next coaching job and I will always be a fan of him .

However , I do believe We did make a better choice than he would have been.

but why take the chance? If we'd been hosting regionals every year, I could see promoting Raffo. Tommy needs to go get another HC job (which he should have no problem doing, just not at an SEC school). If he does well, he should be able to move up. Shoop would have been a much better choice than Raffo. He's won multiple NC's & is a HC in D-I.
