Polk has a slight stumble coming out of his break and Will just over shoots him in the endzone on our first possession. He's wide open. Will had time. Didn't execute. We score there we've got the confidence we need to win that game. And the Ole Miss players start second guessing their coach and themselves.
Instead we start doubting. We needed those seven points and we needed them at that moment. That was just as big if not bigger than the 3 dropped passes before halftime.
The no call on the holding on 2 and 22: total ********. Two Refs looking right at it. You gotta call that. How the 17 can you not call that?
That said, the 17n FAKERS were a lot more physical than we were throughout the game. Their O Line pounded us (when they weren't holding) and they had a damn good backfield, guys with the will to win on every damn play.
Gonna need another Monster or two on the DLine.
Those 17n FAKERS are not that much better than we are, but damned if they didn't seem like they wanted it more, particularly when they were running the ball.
They got lucky this year. They should have lost to Ark and Tenn and we should have beaten them too. And could have, if we'd have executed better on offense on two or three plays. Disappointing. Damn disappointing.
We had a good year, improved in a lot of areas and players seem to be buying in to the program. The LSU and Memphis game were real pissers that we probably should have won, but we didn't.
WE DID WIN the Arkansas game and got 17d on a ******** call after we'd stopped them on their final drive. That's the loss that will sting this year more than any other.
No one wants to lose to Ole Miss - ever. And we shouldn't for the next two years at least, hopefully more. Hate to read that last night's tough loss brought out the pitchforks and 'the let's-light-Leach-on-fire' crowd. But that's how certain sports fans react when they can't see the forest for the trees.
Leach is our guy now (like it or not). Stick with the program. We will get eight wins next year and 10+ in 2023 with real shot at getting to the conference championship game and maybe the playoffs.
