The tourney was over early and every non-PSU fan who I talked to had nothing but praise for Penn State.
I met N. Iowa fans who praised PS and I told them that they should be proud of Kekeissen, that I heard good things about him off the mat. The fan told me he would have loved to see him wrestle Brooks. I bit my tongue.
I told the fans that I followed Penn State from 1969 on so I know what it’s like to have down years. I told them that it’s easy to follow teams that are winning but the real fans follow teams that are struggling. I told them I was happy to root for PS wrestlers to get to be an All American. I told them those memories are still precious to me, I will never be a gloating PS fan.

If Keck was a Hawk, the narrative would be that Brooks moved up to avoid Parker.🤣

Seems like a nice kid……wish him the best

In Pittsburgh, there was no shortage of whiny bitchy Iowa fans. They had this entitled mentality like we were squatting in their house.

Maybe they have come to terms with being a middle of the pack team in the relevancy race.

Other than 125, their guys are boring. They pray every night for a push out rule. I feel bad for the Iowa kids.

I try to catch as many matches of other teams on youtube all year. I watched quite a few dual meets of Iowa amond doing that.

Ayala at 125 was about the only Iowa non transfer that was a little exiting to watch. Glazier too actually. I actually like the way he wrestled much of the year. But other than that, it was the transfers that were the ones that got after it a bit. Calliendo and Franek. The rest, boring like you said. Even Woods went downhill from last year. Senior deterioration, an Iowa tradition like no other!!

I0wa wrestlers wrestle per the Brands formula, which is to sit back, hope your opponent makes a mistake you can capitalize on, and be happy with a 3-2 victory. This style is why it's so hilarious that Hawkeye fans think a David Taylor or Bo Nickel would thrive as an assistant to TnT. A coach who preaches the Penn State method would last about a week at I0wa - and that includes time to find a house, buy it and move in.

I0wa wrestling is the perfect companion for the Hawkeye football offense.

I ran into very few Iowa fans, must have been a fluke. The few Iowa fans I ran into were decent people complimentary of our team, maybe they were outliers.

I suspect that, much like our society in general, the vast majority of fans for any college wrestling team are good people who love the sport. It's just that the few exceptions (and we have some too) get much more attention than they should!
