According to Rivals...

State has a VERY strong recruiting class. I usually don't pay much attention to the star ratings, but rather, the amount of offers. However, if you base it solely on ranking... Rivals is very impressed with our commits...

-Tyler Russell is ranked 13th among QBs (Garrett ranked 15th) (3*)
-Josh Hollingsworth is ranked 32nd among QBs (3*)
-Fletcher Cox is ranked 5th among DEs (4*)
-Anthony Rodgers is ranked 24th among DEs (3*)
-Chris Smith ranked 25th among WRs (4*)
-Sam Watts is ranked 10th among OL (3*)
-Jonathan Banks, Cameron Lawrence and Nickoe Whitley have yet to be evaluated due to being considered "ATH"... However, Jonathan Banks and Cameron Lawrence are ranked in the ESPN top 150 watch list...

For the record, it's okay to be excited about recruiting, but don't be like Ole Miss fans and treat it as if it were the Egg Bowl, or better yet, the Sugar Bowl. Or perhaps, like Alabama and make tshirts.

Really?

Nothing against him, I just didn't know anyone considered him that good.

I really hope Chris Smith makes his grades. His stock has been on the rise lately.

I didn't either. I knew he had size like crazy... but not as highly thought of... But we'll see, I guess.

Also According to rivals, though, Smith has a 2.9 GPA with a 25 ACT. So, if that's correct, he'll be in. But the NCAA will have to conduct some stupid investigation to see if its legit.

Actually you're kinda off. The class is good, but not nearly as impressive as your suggesting

-Tyler Russell is ranked 13th among pro-style QBs (Garrett ranked 15th) (3*)
-Josh Hollingsworth is ranked 32nd among pro-style QBs (3*)
-Fletcher Cox is ranked 5th among weakside DEs (4*)
-Anthony Rodgers is ranked 24th among strongside DEs (3*)
-Chris Smith ranked 25th among WRs (4*)
-Sam Watts is ranked 10th among centers (3*)

So, no 87. People don't consider him to be 10th OL good.

Hey, thanks for the clarification. I'm not a frequent visitor at Rivals, so I figured there was something I was missing especially when Shepherd (LSU commit) wasn't on the QB list. Still, I think it's a strong class.

Banks & Whitley have each been rated as 3* as of this morning. Lawrence still has not been evaluated.

So, per Rivals, we have 6 3* guys and 2 4* guys & 1 non evaluated player committed. I imagine that Lawrence will be at least a 3*. I have to hand it to Croom. He is making last season pay off on the recruiting trail. This is shaping up to be a monster class compared to what we have been getting.

that Croom's light bulb has gone off. Finally. At least as far as recruiting is concerned. This class is much, much better this early than any he's had. AND, in a sign that he REALLY gets it, we've already offered a 2010 OL prospect from Olive Branch. The bashing over recruiting is not warranted. Bash away on the offensive philosophy all you want.

You must be really bored..
I don't give a damn until they step foot on campus in S-Vegas..

You people who get all excited about recruits remind me of the Ole Miss fans and the Orgeron...

Quote From Charlie Wilsons war sums it up "We'll see"

Gust Avrakotos: There's a little boy and on his 14th birthday he gets a horse... and everybody in the village says, "how wonderful. the boy got a horse" And the Zen master says, "we'll see." Two years later The boy falls off the horse, breaks his leg, and everybody in the village says, "how terrible." And the Zen master says, "We'll see." Then a war breaks out and all the young men have to go off and fight... except the boy can't cause his legs messed up. and everyone in the village says, "How wonderful."

Be weary of BDB ratings this year. The site is struggling, paying members have been complaining about getting shafted in the rankings, and Rivals is trying to keep them happy along with gaining new/returning members. I'm not saying they are bumping our ratings, but it just seems suspect to me. Prime example is Hollingsworth.

Personally I don't see Blitz being able to recover. I've already joined BDJ(as a freeloader) and just waiting for my BDB subscription to expire. The content on BDJ is outstanding.

Rivals has never given a damn about our ratings on their site before, and I assure you with members dropping like flies they aren't going to be bumping our rankings up now. I would say they are probably more accurate now than they ever were before.

I actually watched a video of Hollingsworth recently and he looked very solid. Not as good as garrett or Russell by any stretch, but I don't think that is too highly rated for a pro style QB. He had a very strong arm....
