Apparently in lieu of a raise, his employer gave him four PITT season tickets 🎟️. I know, I know it’s not funny, hopefully it gets resolved quickly and safely.

Apparently officers were trying to serve an eviction notice and came under fire.

I'm sure cops love showing up outgunned to nearly every engagement that requires firearms.

More and more whackos with guns equals a shorter timeline....especially for folks in areas with more guns. Keep your head on a swivel folks.

So looking at the report, they were serving and eviction notice when they person opened fire. I worked for a company that was sort of an outsourced company for REO bank properties. Banks would foreclose and this company would go in and cleanout and repair the properties. However, some people wouldn't move out. I would have to go and see if the properties were occupied and knock on the door and hand them a letter from the bank to call someone. This was in the late 90s. It was a bit nerve wracking as there were one or 2 instances where the people were about nasty to me. Never threatened and I was carrying anything to protect myself as I was just a messenger. I would have hate to do that in today's world or be the group that shows up to evict a family. Hope this instance resolves quickly.

It was kinda funny 😆
You almost got to make light of it anymore, or you’ll never leave your house. It happens 25x everyday 365.

And not one of them was the gun at fault. I been around them all my life and never had one go off by itself. 🤷‍♂️

"Any" is always "too much"

That said, nationwide murder and violent crime rates, prior to 2020, had been on a consistent downward path for 30 years. What changed?

Wait - you mean you have to have a license and insurance and submit to annual inspections to drive a car but not to own a deadly firearm?

I Dont Believe You Will Ferrell GIF

you don’t need a license, insurance, and submit to annual inspections to drive a car on private property. Those are only needed on public roads.

But you don’t need those things to drive a car, you need them to legally drive a car but many, many people are out there driving without any of the three.

Which will be as successful as keeping unlicensed, uninsured, and/or uninspected vehicles off of public roads.
Yet we still have laws and introduce new ones that are crazy controversial when they get introduced. I remember as a kid when seatbelt laws came into place that the government was taking away peoples liberties for "safety". People were geniunely upset by that law when it passed. Decades later....seems to me that was the right call.

A little bit of common sense laws doesn't mean we throw our hands up when folks don't follow them. Nor does it mean we have to go to a police state either. Thank goodness nobody on this site has every driven after a few too many or has pushed the speed limit, but maybe we just throw out the enforcing laws since some don't follow them? Odd take for sure.

Unfortunately, the slippery slope trumps common sense. "First they take away our assault rifles. Next thing you know, I can't keep a hand gun in my home."

I remember when seat belt laws were introduced. We were told one would never get pulled over for simply not wearing a seatbelt. It would always be in conjunction with another offense, like speeding, running red light, etc. Odd that it didn't turn out that way.

So you're against laws or just some of them? That is fine, don't wear your seatbelt then. Carry a gun in public where it's not allowed or try to buy that bazooka for protection....fine by me. I'm for a little bit of law and order but you do you since some people break the law or they change in time....they must be bad. More gray to this IMO than what can be discussed here....nor should it be. I'm out.

So in your world only non gun owners want some reform or tighter restrictions on certain weapons. There are plenty of veterans/police who own weapons and say that some weapons aren't meant for home use. Tons of folks that have protection at home still are in favor of some more restrictions....not sure what makes you think this way that it is all or nothing....although I really do. That Monmouth county hood keeping it real yo.

Don’t have one. Wouldn’t carry one. Have two small kids and live in a ‘nice’ area. Trust local law enforcement and my home security system to keep me safe. I’d like to have one (that I would store in a locked safe) but wife is against it. Will have to do for now…

As a veteran I heartily agree, but it shouldn’t be limited to personal weapons. Here’s some examples to avoid.
1. Land mines, if you don’t chart properly where you place them they can really ruin a backyard barbecue.
2. Razor sharp concertina wire, should never be liberally spread around the inside of your home. I trust this is self explanatory.
3. Fragmentation grenades attached to a door handle, makes you stop and think when someone says “Come in the doors not locked”.
4. Electric Shock door bells, especially when incorrectly wired to the local power grid.
