4* WR Keylen Adams out of Virginia Beach will announce his commitment on Thursday. Looks like it's down to us, Bama and VaTech. No CBs on 247. On3 has him 79% to us. Pairing him with Mazeo Bennett would set up our WR pretty nicely.

4* RB Braylen Russell is announcing on Friday. Prior Arkansas commit, and it looks like he'll probably end up sticking with them. Dowell Loggains is in on his recruiting.

Adams is probably our best bet to get a commit this week. With Russell likely sticking with Arkansas, all eyes will be on Daniel Hill in a few weeks. On3 currently gives a slight edge over Bama with Hill.

That would certainly be ideal. It's obviously not a coincidence that Loggains is in on his recruiting. Loggains has been on him from the get-go in Arkansas.

JC Shubert just put in a crystal ball prediction for Adams to VT

Wow, yeah, On3 had him 79% to us yesterday. Today it's 93% VaTech and we are now less than 1%. But, as we saw with Harbor, these predictions can be wildly off and fluctuate even hourly. Doesn't look good, though.

Oh well. We need to get some recruiting mojo back. Been flat for a good while now.

At least with both of these guys, it looks like they will end up staying with the in-state program, so that softens the blow slightly.

Well, it doesn't look like we'll get any good news today or tomorrow. Too bad, considering we were trending for Adams all the way up until Tuesday of this week. But, you never know what can happen. Harbor called USC in the early morning hours on 2/1 and told them he was going to Oregon, then at 1 pm the same day he committed to us. Not the norm, of course, and I don't expect it to happen, but you never know.

Looking back over Russell's timeline, I'm not really sure how we entered the conversation. Seems he's always been, at the least, a heavy Arkansas lean.

Well, Adams to Tech. I wasn't optimistic but was hopeful for a Harbor-like change of mind at the 11th hour.

Have a feeling, until he signs a flip is possible. Got the impression this was more of a "family" commitment than "his" commitment.

Hopefully we'll be soothed if we land Paylor. He's a smaller receiver but highly recruited. Plus he's a top 10 prospect in N. C. and it's always good to gobb smack Mack.

You can hardly blame a kid for staying in-state and playing for his state school. We certainly want all of our quality SC guys to stay home….

This is what Adams said about a week ago about staying in Virginia:

“A lot of people think it does, but to me it doesn’t really have as big an effect on me as everybody thinks,” Adams said. “I’m really not even from Virginia. I’m from Ohio. Most of my family is there. The only people that’s here is like my mom and step-pops and uncle. Once I go to college, my mom and step-pops are moving anyway.”

Also Hale from TOS said one of the June Welcome Home announcements from Beamer was Adams.

I don't think Beamer and Stepp will stop recruiting him.

I would say, his commitment felt a bit flat. Can't read too much into it, could just be his personality. It just didn't feel very joyful and didn't exude a confidence. Who knows though? None of the family looked particularly overjoyed.

Agree. I don’t think this one is over.

Russell as expected moved back to his home state of Arkansas. Now all our eggs for a top flight rb this cycle are on Hill from Ms. Hope we don't strike out. If we do it will be either the portal or trying to pinpoint a recruit that emerges in his sr. year.

Hill announced his commitment date is 8/23, so we've got to wait a bit. Perhaps it strengthens our position that Russell stuck with Arkansas. Most places have it a two-horse race between us and Bama with UT a distant third. Most also have him a strong lean to us. But Adams was heavily favored to us until Tuesday of last week
