After being in the Memphis media market for 1 day, I miss

The hosts are awful. Weinberger & crew make Chuck & Doug sound well thought-out. I didn't hear one person half as knowledgeable about college sports as Bo Bounds.
The callers are worse. I was pining for Rebel Red & Blue. I dread how bad it would be if Memphis State had actually won against Kansas.

They also don't seem to be as much into booking guests, coaches, etc...

don't even turn to 560 unless a game is on. I am actually going to miss Vernon, I really liked that show.

I haven't heard he is leaving.

And yes I agree only 730 ESPN is worth listening to.

I don't think Vernon is going anywhere. I think he was referring to his move. OP4 is moving to Texas.

so I won't be listening to Verno any more.

</p>Sure you can, just go to their website. Vernon isdefinitely my favorite sports guy on here in town. I usually listen to Howard Stern in the morning and Vernon in the afternoon

Wienburger's whole show is to say something totally ridiculous (like....Memphis' easy schedule in CUSA landed them a #1 seed) then sit back and take calls from idiots who want to argue with him. On the rare occassion, he does have a guest, he stammers and stumbles to ask questions that make Gene seem like a hard hitting, insightful journalist. He is terrible. Everyone knows it. However, for what ever reason, he stays on the air. I don't know if he has dirt on the owner of Sports56 or what. But do yourself a favor and don't bother. It is the same every day.

Oh, some other background on Wienburger. He did hawk 1-900 numbers to give recruiting updates for the local colleges. His biggest caller back in those days was "Yancy in Oxford."</p>

</p>Same here. Stern and Bo Bounds in the morning and Paul Finebaum in the afternoon even though I'm in Charlotte. Thank you, interwebs...

From what I understand, Wienburger is a trust fund baby or something to that extent. Basically, he has a lot of money from daddy and pays for his spot to be on the show. Whenever he's not on, the other two guys usually make fun of him. I definitely don't listen to any of them anymore because of Jeff. It's painful to listen to, and his recruiting news is usually two weeks behind everything else.</p>

so I don't know if trust fund baby is accurate. Or maybe it is. I just think of young people buying their way when I hear that. He seems to get worse every year, although I haven't heard the term "plastic stats" since Peyton won the superbowl.
