Since it's basketball ... where some level of competence is identifiable ... it seems reasonable to remind myself that, if we just keep winning, things will work out fine. As distinguished from other sports where competence has proved to be lacking.

We increased the number of ballots we were on from 28 to 29 but we dropped from 179 poll points to 158. Hard to argue with Dayton and Memphis leapfrogging us. To be honest, some of the teams right behind us (Arkansas, Mizzou, Illinois) have looked better than we have recently outside of the Pitt game.

Murphy and Hubbard have been cold or in foul trouble the last couple games, and we basically won the last two on raw talent and sheer determination. Combine that with some unranked teams pulling upsets and it's no surprise.

If we'd won both in convincing fashion then we probably wouldn't have dropped, but it is what is and ultimately the wins are what matter come tourney seeding time

If we win tomorrow (should be a given) and at Memphis on Saturday we will be well inside the top 25 when the new poll comes out next Monday.

No argument from me. It wasn’t just the game on Saturday, it was the one from the Sunday before where we struggled to beat a 1-7 swac team. We have to play much better than that or we will be eaten alive in SEC play.

Clearly the teams that play down to their competition and squeak out wins are seen as not top 25 material
