We got a top 10 team, a 4 seed at worse tournament team. 17 the egg this year. Get on board or get the 17 out. I been saying it since preseason. I love this team. Wake up!
Without a dominate big we are at best a 7 seed imho. After watching some teams this weekend, it’s hard for me to see us as a top 10 team. Top 15-20, sure, at best.
The SEC is a sledge hammer this year
In order for us to take the next step, without a dominant big, we would need Clary and Claudell to step it up on the parameter….big time
We're clearly pretty good. I'll reserve Top 10 talk for when we have some data on how we look against Top 15 caliber teams. Plenty of opportunities ahead.
Usual early season we great just to be humbled by seasons end. Wait till next year before throwing out how great this team is. Still gotta play the SEC schedule....
I'll say I am slowly coming around. Not sure how good Unlv is but it was definitely a good neutral site win. It might take a bad loss with a 1 for 20 3 pt shooting night to convince me otherwise, but I think this team is pretty good. Claudell is a concern when he throws up 3 after 3 wide open and doesn't come close to making them. And 23 struggles from the FT line where he is going to spend a lot of time this year. Tonight the defensive effort was there and there were some Ricky tack fouls called on out defense. But they had to work to get shots or get fouled so I'm good with that D effort.
Very impressive, at times UNLV looked like they didn’t belong in the same gym as us. If I had to nitpick I would say we actually should have won by even more. I believe we only shot around 40% from the field and for stretches in the 2nd half it was brick city. We will need to shoot better against tougher competition. Loved the hustle on D and on the glass, we were dominant on the boards. In the first half the refs were definitely trying their best to keep UNLV in the game, calling us for every little thing while they mugged us on several occasions with no call.
Looking forward to see how we look with only 24 hours rest against Butler. They were a NIT team last year and it looks like they returned their key players. Don’t know much else about them except Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend’s brother is on the team. I’m guessing they are probably something like a bubble team this year. We actually have a common opponent, they played SMU at home and won by 9. Their loss came to Austin Peay who doesn’t seem that good.
