….so may as well quit hoping for it. There won’t be any Cadillac resurgence for us. Just have to hope we can hold off USM to avoid total embarrassment and rock bottom.

And it doesn’t matter, recrootin is gone at this point and the majority of the 2024 class will be portal.

It’s gonna suck. Thank God for Jans.

Just need to be gone behind the scenes and lining up a coach to be named by no later than week after egg bowl so they can try to save some of the class

And figuring out which assistants we want to hopefully keep (Bumphis, Hughes, Knox, Turner, etc.).

Honestly. I like bump but our receiver blocking has been trash this year. I mean our team as a whole has too so not just on him. Really depends on the coach and scheme. If we go back to a modified air raid he's probably not the best guy for that but if we are running spread yeah. Knox. It depends our running backs run hard but depends on the scheme. Turner. He has a better track record with Mullen but our defense has rarely gotten pressure. Some of that is scheme and having no stud DEs. Hughes will be around until he wants to step back. I think the plan was for Bump to take his place as the MS recruiting guy.

If we bring in a big name established coach that is currently coaching he will bring a lot. If we bring in a coordinator he likely brings a few guys and hires people he knows. Peterson shouldn't be hiring the guys. He needs to go back to high school relations.

me personally. Herman Malzahn and Mullen are all guys that have big time experience and guys I think could do well and all would bring a lot of guys in. But turner, knox, Hughes, and bump are all guys from Mullen tree.

what I find intriguing about lashlee and Kinne being mentioned is that they are both Malzahn tree guys.

I think we have no chance of any of the big time big 12 guys.

the other guys have better track records with qbs.

holgerson and Neal are both modified air raid guys that have been up and down.

Clawson has similar background to Moorhead except he has been a successful coach.

You literally just explained exactly WHY there’s no point in waiting to fire this clown today. Literally.

Don’t put off what you are eventually going to do. UPig fired Enos after losing to us, Arnett doesn’t make that much more. It seems to have worked out for them. I know it is the NFL but it is costing the Raiders around $85 Million to fire their staff.
You don’t hire or fire a coach to keep a one year recruiting class intact, especially in these Portal times. If you have made a mistake, it is better to admit it now than and handle it than a year or two down the road.

He’ll get fired (or “resign”) after the season but there’s nothing to gain from firing him now. All of the steps that need to be taken at present time in that regard can still be taken with him on the sideline the last 3 games.

Besides, is anyone else on the staff really qualified to serve as interim? Tony Hughes perhaps, but I mean that’s not going to be any better.

Literally nothing to lose by promoting Hughes. Nothing.

Well, there could be plenty to lose. Buyout language in Arnett’s deal is important. If it doesn’t drop until after the season, then that’s another $1.5 million to cough up just because we don’t want to wait 2.5 weeks. So that alone is one reason.

Its also unnecessarily bad optics to can a guy after 9 games who stepped into the situation that Arnett did, when there aren’t any off-the-field problems, the starting QB went down, team is still putting forth effort, and when the team is still technically fighting for bowl eligibility.

People see Cadillac beat a horrible Texas A&M team in ugly fashion and think its just a great idea to name a passionate interim for a few games. It doesn’t gain you anything.

That’s a good point…. If that verbiage is there, then we have to stick to it. No point in wasting even more money on this guy.

Still, we are well within our window to can Arnett ASAP and not look look foolish to anybody due to the circumstances of our coach passing away. It will prove Selmon’s defining moment, for sure.

Don't keep any of them. It will be up to the new HC to hire his on staff.

Might ought to figure out the facts before making definitive statements.
