Posted byWhen I was growing up, in the same town as Mrs. @LionJim, my only stop for anything relating to sports was Norvell's shoe repair. The guy was a gem ... anything to do with kid's sports he was on top of it. His son was a great athlete too ... played RB at Wisc and NY Giants ... last I heard he was a dean at Mich State.

Former Wisconsin RB and Michigan State AD, Merritt Norvell, has died.
“Merritt Norvell was a running back at Wisconsin in the 1960s and was a member of the Badgers' 1960 Rose Bowl team. He became one of the Big Ten's first black athletic directors in 1995 when he was hired by Michigan State and oversaw three Hall of Fame coaches in Nick Saban, Tom Izzo and Ron Mason.”
Nevada HC Jay Norvell, son of Merritt, is temporarily stepping away from coaching duties, and is expected to return by Saturday for Nevada’s game against Wyoming.
Clean it well with the saddle soap as suggested, then oil with one of the items offered or mink oil which is what I had on hand and used for mine.nfm

You’ll never look at liver the same way ever again.Go to your local library and borrow a copy of Portnoy's Complaint.
This is what our sandlot group did as kids, but we would put a baseball in the glove to help form the pocket and tie it together with shoelaces. Good to go until the ball rolled into the neighbor's yard when the Rottweiler ate the ball.Put your oven on its lowest setting, generously oil the glove all over and in every nook and cranny. Really load it up. Stick it in the over on a tray and let it go for 20-30 minutes, or until the leather is nice and warm and the oil really soaks in. The heat really helps the leather absorb as much oil as possible.
Always hated liver and found it interesting that someone found a use for it.You’ll never look at liver the same way ever again.
