FWIW, the officer is sticking by his story that he was dragged by the car, even though all media outlets now agree the video evidence shows that at no point was he dragged.
I still don’t doubt he did fall. Everyone is saying it didn’t happen based on the short video that came out. But what likely transpired is the fall happened before Scheffler turned in and was blocked from video as it was behind the bus. I believe after getting “dragged” the cop got up and ran after Scheffler, which is what we see in the video.
This seems to make most sense considering the reporters on the scene also say that the officer grabbed (latched onto) the car and was dragged to the ground. They also indicate that Scheffler then drove 15-20 yards before stopping. Scheffler’s first words were apparently that he didn’t know it was a cop, assuming it was just security. These reporters defended Scheffler that day.
Scheffler didn’t do anything wrong. The cop didn’t know the traffic protocol for the tournament and was an idiot for grabbing the door. I’m assuming Scheffler pulled in like instructed but stopped as soon as he realized what had transpired. That’s when the cop gets up and runs after Scheffler, which we see in the video. To my knowledge nobody on Scheffler’s team has denied that he was dragged to the ground. They only deny, rightfully, that he didn’t do anything wrong.
