I will only post one word here about Big Ben......."warrior".
It is amazing that the guy has survived for as long as he has with the punishment he's taken. The guy's a beast. What's even more amazing is that the officials have seemed to interpret the rules differently with respect to roughing the passer for Roethlisberger than they do for the rest of the QBs in the NFL. It's been pretty disgraceful.

Also, regardless of the validity of the misconduct allegations against him, I've admired how he's carried himself since then. It took me forever to grow up, and it took some pretty bad behavior on my own part for me to get to that point.

Change the name of the QB, and you can find fans of any NFL team that feel the same way about the refs and their team's QB.

I don't doubt that. Since we live in State College, we get to see every Steelers game. I'm standing by what my eyes, as an Eagles fan who doesn't care for Big Ben, have seen. Of course, I don't have evidence from all the other games. I think his size and seeming indestructibility work against him too.

I think lots has to do with Bens style. By that I give emmitt smith as an example. He NEVER got smoked because he made an effort not to.

Your new starting Quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers:

Kenny Pickett.
I hope not.

Picket is not particularly accurate, and makes too many plays by scrambling away from near sacks that he won't get away from in the NFL. He has also gotten the benefit of having some dynamic WR's that have gotten crazy YAC, many of whom were lower rated recruits that pitt picked up without much interest from the top programs. Sam Howell, UNC, is another name thrown around for the Steelers, and I don't see him having great success in the NFL either.

I'm hoping the Steelers go Oline in 1st and 2nd, sign a free agent QB, and go for a QB next year when hopefully there are better options in the draft.

Yep...I heard a rumor that Garrapolo is going to be a Steeler.

Yeah I don’t really care. But it’s easy to trigger the Stiller dabs.

Remember when Haloti Ngata broke his nose...no penalty called of course, just collateral damage. Steelers still won the game.

I’d take Mariota, Jimmy G, or even trade a high draft pick for Tua. I think the sample size is large enough to predict Mason is a career back up at best.
Has to be a guy that take a beating for a year or 2.

Mariota at a much smaller cap hit than Ben allows for another FA pick up. Draft an OL, get a FA OL, whatever method, but get at least 2 new OL who can play and the offense will be ok. Use the other picks/FA to sure up the D.

I don’t follow the cap status too much, but I think the Steelers will be sitting pretty comfortable with cap space next year? Hopefully, this allows them to sign a free agent QB or trade for a guy already in the league, like those mentioned, and address other needs in the draft. Keep in mind, they need to extend Minkah Fitzpatrick also, which will not be cheap. Another guy I’d throw into the conversation at QB is Gardner Minshew. He’d be far more effective than a rookie QB.

I think you're correct about the cap. Haden's contract is also up as well as Edmunds and Fitzpatrick. They can franchise Fitzpatrick but that hasn't worked out too well in the past with Bell and Dupree. They're probably going to need help on the DL as well. Tuitt had been dealing with the death of his brother now Tomlin said he's not returning this season. Cam is playing his best ever but is getting long in the tooth.

On another note, I just read where the Steelers haven't lost a home Monday night game since 1992. Amazing.

I believe Steelers have almost 50 million in cap $ plus Haden and a few others will not be resigned so potential for minkah to get that contract and get an OT/OG and either a CB or DT in free agency.
This is the type of situation where the old Steeler regimes killed it and maintained their upper echelon status but Tomlin et al have not. Smart FA signings and a good draft gets them right back to where they want to be

Yes and no, the Malone, Brister, Kent Graham, Tomczak, Maddox years were all pretty forgettable. If they don’t address the QB situation, that’s where they are at. However, for the most part, the organization has hit on personnel moves over the years.
