For the All-Star game they should suspend the rule that says if you're taken out of a game you can't go back in. I'm buying. They almost got to the point of using position players as pitchers last night. And it wouldn't hurt to be able to bring a starter back in after his sub has played 6 innings or so.

Disclaimer - I don't know that I've ever watched more than an inning or 2 of an All-Star game. I do know that I've never cared about it at all.</p>

Treat it like a regular game with small exceptions, kind of like Clint Hurdle did. Don't feel obligated to get everyone in the game, and let the starting pitchers pitch two innings each. And if a pitcher is selected but started on Sunday, then let them come for the honor but fill their spot with someone who can actually contribute. That's where the problems nearly came in last night. Kazmir, Webb and Dempster all deserved to be there, but they had no business pitching since they threw so much just two days earlier.

After last night, I think Hurdle should be the de facto manager for the NL for a while. He ran the game right.
