Am I Overreacting by Thinking Having a Statue At QB is Killing Us?

It's having an offense that can't adjust to the different pass rushes we saw tonight. Just over powered our offensive line. Then the receivers with the drops and qb that started missing targets when he got hit.

You’re not overreacting. Rogers will take Leach down.

6-6 with third loss in a row to ole miss should do it. Tonight is unacceptable. Every facet of the game. Starts at the top.

It has ZERO to do with it. It’s a scheme that wont make some small tweaks to make us tougher to defend. Along with a staff that continues to build a mistake-prone team and having no OLINE. And if our QB was Mobile Leach wouldn’t want him running

Awful loss against a bad team.

I’ll be honest, Will lost me tonight also. He’s great a what he does, but his lack of athletic ability and seeming unwillingness or also inability to push the ball downfield puts a low ceiling on this team. I’m sick of watching it.

The game has evolved. Look no further than the NFL. Rogers’ mobility is a restrictor plate.

Sawyer won't block and throw. You saw the difference between our first year tackles and their freshman tackles. They have a lot higher dollar player than we do

In case anyone was wondering why Leach isn’t on anyone’s short list for coaching hires, here’s exhibit A. Absolute **** show of a second half

More than once a read option would have gained double digit yards if not a TD on 3rd and short or 4th and short. The LSU mobile quarterback killed us tonight because of his legs not his arm.

For all the wisdom Leach has, I can’t understand why you don’t see this on video. If Rogers keeps and runs, he can easily get yardage. He can slide down and not take a hit.

When you have a Pass Heavy team SOOO many things have to work / be effective simultaneously:
1.) OL has to pass protect successfully 80% of the time.
2.) WRs have to get separation and catch very well 75% of the time.
3.) QB has to read the Defense well and make good decisions and throw well 90% of the time.
4.) QB and WRs have to be on the same page 90% of the time.
5.) Bad throws kill this Pass Happy system.
6.) Pressure & Sacks kill this Pass Happy system.
7.) Miscommunications kill this Pass Happy system.
8.) Interceptions kill this Pass Happy system.

Now if you have a balanced Running game...
1.) The Veer doesn't require a dominant OL.
2.) In general the OL really only needs to block well at the point of attack.
3.) Requires a strong durable RB corp.
This is why we can all name a lot of successfull MSU RBs - Josh Robinson, Vick Ballard, Anthony Dixon, Christian Ducre, Jerious Norwood, James Johnson, Keefer McGee, Justin Griffith, Dicenzo Miller, Donate Walker, Kevin Bouie, Michael Davis, William Prince, Kenny Ray Roberts, etc. Because MSU can recruit good RB talent and a few big OL recruits and field a good Offense. Even Jackie Sherrill in an interview said he remembered playing against MSU when he was at Alabama and he said "Mississippi State was a Buckle Your Chin Strap game, because you might win but it would be very physical."

I don't know if MSU can consistently recruit Air Raid system players...and even then, will everything work? We have our deepest WR group in recent memory and they all had a case of "Drop-itis" tonight in Baton Rouge.

The core strength of this offense completely broke down tonight. Rogers, Williams, and Thomas were supposed to be among the most reliable and they all had a bad game. The defense played well enough aside from the missed open field tackles. Missed tackles should not be happening this often.
