An easy way to end the issue of player skirmishes after games

5 minutes is plenty of time to grab a flag and try to plant it midfield.

Once a fight breaks out, I'm not sure what the coaches can do? And what is the penalty going to be, fines and suspensions of the coaches?

And TV wants to interview coaches and players post game. While they can do it in the locker room, it's faster and easier on the field. Truth is, TV probably likes showing the fights, too.

I'm not sure how you teach respect and sportsmanship to young adults raised differently. It's hard to tell someone "it's just a game" when they are paid 6 or 7 figures to play that game. But there is mo need to disrespect your opponent; leave that to the fans.

Give a couple of flags to drunk students and allow them to storm the field while the losing home team gets to stop them. Great TV.

Why do we have to fix it? That's how rulebooks get to be thousands of pages long. Just deal with it. Funniest shlt ever is all these coaches and announcers acting like it's just so horrific for football players to fight. Let them tie into it like hockey, they'll get tired, then break it up and go on about your day.

If they wanted to stop it then suspend the players that take part in it along with the head coach and OC/DC 4 games including any post season games and carry over into next season.

Or just let the winning team stay out there and do what they want. If you don’t like it, win.
Problem is, like it or not, these guys are role models and their antics will trickle down to the high school ranks and beyond. I don't mind the visiting team celebrating their win, but they don't need to be disrespectful to the home team while they celebrate.

That's what they did with Clemson/USCe a few years back, ended up being Coach Holtz's final game as a result of them being banned from the post-season.

Agree.

A 4-game suspension of players and coaches would be appropriate. Fines won't deter anything.

To be effective and deter unwanted behavior, the penalty has to inflict pain on the responsible individuals.

State and Ole Miss agreed to remove flags from the field at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Pretty obvious solution if you don't want flag issues.

Just heard the BIG fined OSU and UM $100K each for the flag planting incident. Not sure that will accomplish much.

NFL has not yet announced a fine for planting Trevor Lawrence at midfield.
The offending player (can neither spell nor pronounce his name) was suspended for 3 games. He will appeal.
