Yancy knows of 2 HUGE, KEY recruits who are private commits to OM with one going public after Xmas and one staying private till the end.

Gentlemen, we are knee deep in recruiting season. Enjoy.

Now anyone who commits after Christmas will be tabbed by Yancy (what a ridiculous first name by the way) as one of the "secret commits". Then anyone who waits till signing day will be the other "secret commit." Very bold predictions by Yancy (sarcasm).

I hear MSU has secret commits. They have familial obligations right now, so they will wait and announce sometime between the next 5 minutes and signing day. BOOK IT!

would be concern over making grades. Like the kid don't want to be embarassed when he don't make it. But OM had a lot of that last year. So the NCAA made a new rule because of them, and they can't so sign 37 or so again this year.
So what else is new?

The SEC made a rule (not the NCAA), because Slive is a reactionary leader that makes a lot of his decisions based on public reaction without consideration for what it actually means. Somehow failed to notice SEC teams signing 30+ every year for a while now.

And it's hard to say we had a problem with guys not qualifying when we signed most of them knowing we were going to place them in a Juco. We actually had the opposite problem. We had too many qualify and had to grayshirt or place some guys that had grades. Having problems with signees not making grades is when you end up with fewer than 25 reporting due to too many non-qualifiers.

And I disagree about being a "secret" commit. You don't see it often in Mississippi, because the pressure isn't usually as high, but I definitely buy that kids in Louisiana or Alabama will sometimes drag out the recruiting if they've already privately committed to an out of state school, simply to avoid the in-state heat they'd receive for committing early.

As to Yancy, he's just drumming up traffic. That's what he does best. He got wind of Byron Bennett's coming commitment, and he gave about a day or so warning without saying who was going to commit, and it ended up being not a big surprise. But he had a lot of the Spirit crowd glued to their computers waiting to find out.

My guess is the "private" commit that's going to reveal after Christmas is Carlton Martin. That's no big surprise, and it probably is a private commit. Regardless, if that's who it is, it's a way for Yancy to drum up hits over the next week, anxiously waiting the announcement.

What is this ...World War II or college football. Why in the world would a kid say, "I want to go to your school, but let's don't tell anybody." Or a coach say, "Great, we're glad to have you, but let's keep it quiet." Who gives a ****? And if you're keeping it quiet in order to lure other players at that position, then that's dishonest. And it seems you would eliminate the pressure from hometown fans by committing and ending the circus. This is a crock of bonafide ********!! What a farce!

Really? I'm the only person here without an intimate knowledge of who Ole Miss is recruiting and may be on the verge of committing? Learn something new ever day, I suppose.

and it makes me think of a Dan Brown novel. Really, it's just an 18 year old who decides where he's going to college, and most of the time make a minimal impact on the gridiron. I actually laugh outloud when I read the seriousness of the discussions on these super-secret, earth-shattering, world-changing, second comings of a player who is so important, we must not utter his name.

because I know people like you go home and kick the dog, then cuss out and smack your wife around.

Anybody defending Yancy Porter is sad. Even McCready called him a lair. So yes, it will be Ole Miss's next commit, even if it is Shyster P. Fawnsworth III's,(a good rebel who has bribed 3 judges and has a wife who as substance abuse problems) son from Rebul Academy who made 27 tackles and threw 2 Td's with 5 ints.

No doubt. That is what I was referring to as far as the one that has been committed for a while. No clue on the other or if it's even factual.

If you did, I'm not following you. All I said was there is a recruit who committed to OM who will announce in the next few days, and that he's a Can't Miss prospect. This young man also likes Canned Meat.

the super-secret recruit, or maybe a representation of the Ole Miss fan base.

MSU neighbors, teachers, friends, etc.

Oh, really? MSU fans may gripe a little, but OM fans have a history of getting people fired from their jobs if you don't do what they want them to do.

That's because all you MSU people work for us. You left it on a tee.

Seriously, the other reason I've seen for guys keeping a commit quiet is if they want to have a press conference to announce it or if they want to announce it at an All-American game or something like that.

And like I said, I figure one of the secret commits is Martin, which really isn't a secret. Regardless, it's Yancy trying to drum up hits on his site by throwing out a teaser.

ETA: If I had to guess, I'd probably say his second secret commit, that's going to announce on signing day is Vincent Sanders, and I don't think that would be a huge shocker either. And of course, as was mentioned, claiming he has a secret commit that will announce on signing day is pretty foolproof because you have to figure someone will make their announcement to sign with us on signing day, so even if it's pure ********, he'll get to claim it wasn't.

...Yancy is enough of an accomplished con-man to realize doing the yearly secret commitment tease is going to entice enough rebel sheep to increase his premium subcriptions.

Yancy has about as much knowledge of secret commitments as coach34 has of nuclear physics.

Actually, I have a lot of Ole Miss people that work for me, most of which are marginally competent.

And is Carlton Martin or Vincent Sanders really that damn big of a secret? The commitment may not be public, but its no secret as to where they are going to sign. Hell, Martin has more Ole Miss gear than he does Madison Central gear; and, isnt Vincent Sanders an honorary captain for the Cotton Bowl?

I guess Sanders wants to join his boy Pat P in insignificance-ville with Javaughn "I stare down my receiver" Sneed or Fill in the Blank "He's better than Eli" throwing the ball in his general direction next year.

The you work for us thing was a joke because Mutt left it up there to be made.

And no, those guys aren't a big secret. Sanders is maybe up in the air still, but I don't think anyone would be shocked for him to sign with us. That's why I'm saying it's just Yancy drumming up attention for his site.

As far as Sanders is concerned, we lose our two leading receivers and over half of our receiving yards, so there is definitely an opportunity to come in and get catches. And with Hodge having a good shot at being drafted fairly high this year, that'll be back to back years for us to have receivers drafted, which I'm sure helps our case. Honestly though, for me, Sanders is down on my want list, simply because receivers aren't that high on my list this year. We need some, but they'll be a bigger need in our 2011 class. Right now I think OLs, DBs, DEs, and DTs are much more important for us in this class.
