Kentucky has a losing record against every team of the SEC. Every damn one. Yet, he has turned the program around and has them ranked constantly.

Yet people want Casey who has been in postseason 3 times in 14 years. Wow

3 times in 14 years is 21%. 1 time in 4 years is 25%. That's not much difference. When you include the success each coach has had once they got there, there's no comparison.

Edited to add: And quit creating new threads saying the same thing.

3 times in 14 years is 21%....Cohen is making the NCAA's 2 times in 5 years= 40%...thats a huge difference....then add the fact that they are the losingest program in the SEC and it makes it more amazing because of the toughenss of the conference....Your argument holds no water at all...just stop

the issue is that those three times in the post season have been the last three years...with 2 of them winning the whole damn thing. i personally don't care to hire casey over cohen (for some of the reasons you listed in your many other posts on the subject) but at the same time it isn't far fetched for people to think of him as a viable option for the position. how can you actually berate people for wanting to hire the 2006 Coach of the Year who then went on to win the CWS a second time in 2007? you say he isn't consistent...is it possible that he has finally hit his grove as a head coach? we are always talking about coaches improving on previous years, building programs, etc. maybe this is what he has now done. i would venture to bet that he can now get just about any good recruit in the area to play for him. and i would bet he has more good seasons ahead of him.

let's just hope it doesn't take your boys Crooms and Woody 14 years to get us to a bowl 3 times.

Is it possible for you to make a post without resorting to hyperbole?

We'll have to wait and see what Cohen does this year, but he hasn't done anything yet. Casey, on the other hand...

If you compare winning percentages, Cohen's was .613 going into this year (I'm too lazy to update the winning percentage with this year's record). Casey's was .619.

cause dumbasses like DowntownDawg wail away on here on and dont get called out enough. The mans a good coach, but 3 times in 14 seasons makes him so much like Richard Williams. And so many on here dont think Williams is as good as Ricky. Just curious why they would want him, yet dont give Williams credit for his success

Out of curiosity, why do you have Cohen above O'Connor? He's taken his team to the post-season every year he's been there (100% is much better than 40%) and has a winning percentage in the .700's. Virginia had been to the post-season four times total before he was hired. He seems to be who you think John Cohen is without the MSU ties.

I think this quote is why they want him since over the 2nd era of Polk, Casey has been better...much better. It isn't that strange to want to hire the coach that is hot right now.

First of all, Williams was a good caoch for us. He took us to our only Final Four for goodness sake. Nobody here is failing to give Williams his due, you are the only failing to give Rick his due. I'm not surprised you try to turn that around.

Secondly, the hypocrisy lies not with the crowd that appreciates Rick and wants Casey over Cohen, but rather with you who downs on Rick for failing to have postseason success while lifting up coaches like Brady and Gottfried for thier success and then turning around and wanting Cohen, a coach with zero postseason success, over Casey, a 2 time national champion.

Finally, I like both Casey and Cohen. Either would be a great hire for us. I'd take Casey over Cohen based on his national titles, juse like I'd take Izzo, Self, Donovan, etc over Stansbury. That doesn't mean I don't like Stansbury, that means that if you have a chance to get a national champion still in his prime you take it. While I prefer Casey, choosing between him and Cohen is a win-win situation. It's like choosing between Jessica Alba and Jessica Simpson, you can't go wrong.
