Are people as mad about football if these three things were true leading up to the 22 season?

1. we just had a 7-6 (4-4) season

2. we return a good QB

3. Dan Mullen is the HC

Since he would have been coming off a losing season the year before and he would have lost to Ole Miss two years in a row, and he already had people wanting to run him off since 2014........it would be MUCH worse. The only thing that keeps it from being that way now is apathy and Leach's mystical hold on some fans.

State fans have bitched about every Head Football Coach since this message board went live. Good years and bad years doesn't matter. Someone or someone's are going to *****. It will not change. That's the fact.

Pretty similar to his last season. Swap the Memphis result and it’s basically identical.

But a lot of factors go into it. Our special teams was putrid, lost us multiple games. The bowl game performance was awful, that sure as heck doesn’t help. Two straight losses to Ole Miss- who has gone to Outback and Sugar Bowls while we’ve been in the barely-counts bowl and the technicality bowl.
Ole Miss and Arkansas have both beaten us 2 straight- these are teams we have to be able to beat to have a respectable season.
Objectively there’s just not a ton of reason for optimism. The one thing you can cling to is Leach has a pretty good track record. And blind hope.
