I wear PSU Pajama Pants the night before. And I always wear some PSU gear game-day. That's the extent.

No superstitions per se, but an involuntary ā€œtraditionā€ of sorts that I used to have was dreaming multiple times per season that I had somehow forgotten about a big game and missed it. I would always wake up furious, lol.

Fortunately, this annual malady vanished several years back. Good riddance.

I had a lucky PSU bowl beads necklace that was unfortunately destroyed in the aftermath of that Outback bowl against the gators.

I would do a PSA about tailgating with Four Loco but they outlawed that formula many years ago.

If I had been at that game and wearing a string of lucky beads, I mightā€™ve shredded it out of sheer aggravation.

No Enis, thanks to Suitgateā€¦

No Jurevicius, thanks to being in Joeā€™s academic doghouse (although gee, what a novel notion, huh?)ā€¦

And Joe losing his only matchup with freaking Spurrier.

The whole thing frustrated the hell outta me.

(I do give Spurrier credit, though, for what seemed to be an intentional effort not to RUTS in the 2nd half and embarrass Joe. So, that was something at least.)

No no, I'm talkin' the other time we lost to the gators in Tampa. 5 interceptions from McMoxey. I had to go to work with those people the next week which really set me off.

Oh, crapā€¦ THAT one I totally blocked from my memory, lol.

And now that I think about it, maybe Joe v. Spurrier was in Orlando, not Tampa?

It sucks getting olderā€¦ I used to hold every nitty gritty detail of each season solidly in my memory banks :/

How about promises to God if they win? So far Iā€™ve promised to
1. Stop drinking
2. Using tobacco
3. Return to church
4. Stop committing felonies
5. Be nice and considerate to others
6. Exercise regularly
Still they occasionally lose and Iā€™m convinced that the Lord isnā€™t holding up his part of the bargain. So I regress.

I understand, I just knew we had lost to them in a bowl game in the 90s.

Always wear some PSU gear to watch the games and fly my flag in front of my house. Drink from a PSU glass or coffee cup. Set out the cardboard cutouts of me and my family we bought during the Covid season. Put out all the stuffed Nittany Lion souvenirs weā€™ve acquired over the years and display them throughout the family room. Thatā€™s about it - not much really.

It was in Tampa. Joe coached from the pressbox. I had to hide from all my friends who were Gator fans.

PSU gear on Game Day and when I'm up at a game I try to stop at Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte. That's the only time I ever go to Starbucks.

Not a superstition, but a tradition: Iā€™m an emotional basket case for the entire game. I never ever relax. As for my personality, I become the Breath of Hell.

Not my tradition, but i do remember someone from the old board back in the day who used to prepare a tailgate of food and drink that was based on the opponent. Hopefully, he abandoned that tradition before this weekend.

There was a time where i would occasionally have a vivid dream about a Penn State game a night or two before the game. Always a win, and while the final score was never correct, the margin of victory was always very close.

For example, 1995 Michigan "Snow Bowl" game, I had a dream we won 26-14 and we won 27-17.

Only happened like 4 times over the years, and has probably been 10 years since the last one.

I go into every season hoping for one more night of clairvoyance.

Ha, that is wild.

By all means, please try to whip up a dream about a victory over Ohio State or Michigan this season!

This reminds me of another PSU dream I had on one occasion years ago. In my dream, I had gone into a coma for a few decades and woken up as an elderly man who could no longer speak. At some point after waking up, I overheard someone mention that by that point, Penn State had won a total of seven national championships in football. I then regained the ability to speak, but all I could say was ā€œSeven!ā€ in a happy voice with a smile on my face.

Yeah, my brain works in really bizarre ways šŸ˜‚

If people come into the room, and Penn State makes a big play or is playing well, those people are not allowed to leave. If people come into the room and Penn State starts playing poorly, then those people have to leave at once. Obviously. ;)
