Any update on DJ Jeffries?....

He was on the floor when we gave up 86 to Ole Miss, 79 at Florida, 90 at Rupp.....so how much worse can we be?

The individual player metrics indicate that Cam is a more impactful defender than DJ. Playing with both of them on the court at the same time has:
A) Not made our defense elite
B) Handicapped our offense

If he can't go on Wednesday night, I would like to see Murphy and/or Fort get a shot at taking some of those minutes, rather than just defaulting to the three guard lineup for the majority of the game.

Still no foul call, and no apology from league on missed call either.

This isnt football. There are too many bang bang calls missed on a nightly basis, even big calls get missed on a nightly basis-- if the league was sending apologies for missed calls then they'd never stop writing.

That said I think at one point we were leading the FT advantage 23 to 1. We were in the bonus 3 minutes into the 2nd half. They had 2 guys foul out, and they had 8 more fouls that we did. The ref's werent the problem Saturday.

We will look better offensively though. I'm curious to see what happens after we win several games without him. One group will say the competition is worse (true statement). The other half will say the team gels better with the new lineup (may be a true statement). I'm in the camp of if we are going to give up 80+, we might as well have the best offensive options on the floor.

Sounds like best case scenario is 2-3 weeks. So expect to see more Shawn Jones the next several games.

What's the deal with Murphy? I know he didn't dress for several games. He's dressed the last couple but hasn't seen the floor.

We are much worse defensively without him on the floor.

Yep and I know a lot of people think it's no big deal losing Jeffries but it is........Think back to his game against UT........We don't win that game w/o him........Yeah, we may not lose much in scoring but he's one of our main guys getting the ball inbounds and up the floor........We don't have any good wing players so yeah, this hurts and Jaquan Scott is not the answer........

We are playing the basketball equivalent of the single wing and everyone else is playing the air raid(modern version not Leach version)

We whiffed on bringing in more offense out of the portal and that happens. I am a bit concerned about our inability to bring the D on the road this year as that wasn't a big problem last season with the same players.

He left town for a couple of weeks. Basically took his ball and went home. He’s back now but that’s not something you do without consequences.

If he was sent home, then I could potentially see him returning depending on the circumstances. If he left the team and essentially abandoned them, he shouldn't be allowed to return but that's just me.

He’s back now, will play soon, but we were never going to let him immediately come back and resume his normal role. He’s basically been serving a quiet suspension the last couple of games.

While I agree that the refs had no impact on the outcome of the game….if I’m the head coach, there’s no way I’m letting them rough up my freshman shooting guard without escorting me off the court.

At some point Jans either needs to cut the line or let him play. If he's on the bench against Georgia and Fort/Jeffries are both hurt, Murphy probably gives the team much needed depth over the 3 freshmen who have barely played in SEC games.

If you let Murphy stay on the team, IMO you have to choose winning over punishment when his minutes/talent give you the best chance. Otherwise, why is he still on the team?
