A poster put these on GP today.......I'm amazed by the top 2.

After the LSU series, we have given up 10 runs or more for the 18th time this year and for the 8th game we gave up more than 15 runs.

Team ERA
2007 was 4.85
2006 was 4.22
2005 was 3.51
2008 is 6.98

is that McNickle in some ways has ruined Polk and Raffo. Forget the rumors of ice or no ice, the guy just hasn't gotten the job done.

You have to wonder that if we had a functional pitching staff, if Raffo would be named our HC right now because even a below average pitching staff would have given this team about 30 wins. Even though our offense is below average, and racked with just as many injuries as the pitching staff, we can score a few runs. Take this weekend- you score 4, 4, and 6 runs against LSU on the road, you should win at least one game in all likelihood.

Thanks Russ?</p>

I definitely think McNickle or someone is not properly handling your pitchers. There is no way that a team has that many injuries on a pitching staff just by chance. It's past the point where you can say that it's just bad luck. When you've constantly got pitchers missing time for arm injuries, there has to be an error in the process. Either they aren't properly stretching/warming up before throwing, or they aren't properly treating their arms after completing an outing. And that goes for both practice and games. If nothing else, having a change in the way pitchers are handled should be a huge boost for your team.

I do agree it's very odd, but he is the same guy responsible for the stats prior to this year....

Could it just be shittier pitching talent, along with the top 2 pitchers being hurt ?

didn't we go a whole season without allowing over 10 runs? or maybe it was the second half of one season and into the next...or i'm completely making it up.

McNickle is only there because Polk hired him and Polk has retained him. The buck stops with Polk as it does with every HC. If Polk would have been a little less "loyal" and a little more interested in program success, we wouldn't be in the extreme mess we seem to find our program in right now. The kicker is that one of the primary reasons Polk stated he wanted Raffo hired was so the staff would stay intact. This staff absolutely does NOT need to stay intact. However, I'm sure if Polk were planning to come back next year ole Russ would be there right along with him. One of my biggest gripes with Polk over the years is that he runs his program much more on the buddy system and cronyism than he does by on-job performance with respect to his assistants. Well, in the old days when we had major advantages over most teams we played we could get by with him doing that, but now that we don't it can't be tolerated any longer. Hopefully the new coach will have somewhat higher standards for his staff.
