anybody see that 4th down play by deleware? I've never seen that call

dude fumbled right at the 1st down marker but his team mate recovered it 2 yds beyond the 1st down marker... the refs reviewed the play and spotted it where the fumble took place and returned the ball to MD at the spot where the ball was fumbled..

you can't advance the ball on 4th down without being recovered by the guy who fumbled the ball. Mark the ball at the spot of the fumble and see if it made 1st down yardage

otherwise you could just keep "fumbling" the ball until you got past the marker.

That rule was put in place in the NFL years ago and has trickled down. Snake Stabler was known to fumble forward fairly often.
