This and less have done in whole programs elsewhere... why not a peep anywhere about it (I only heard about it yesterday)?

yeah regardless of if you are trying to be "fair and reasonable" about your reaction given that It's clemson, not sure its fair to judge a response from a girl who had just been raped. even if you are a woman who has been raped (are you???) - everyone's response at any given time is different. just a word of advice.

Even if she had said "omg no it was amazing and incredible and my weird kinky dream to get raped by a clemson football player" it still wouldn't make her claim to be a victim any less viable. I've told people "it's fine" in numerous occasions where it wasnt. many people have.

The officer did his job just about perfectly it seems. The only reason anyone knows anything about this is because he made such thorough reports. He passed all information to the Solicitor who declined to press charges. It's not up to the office to press charges. IF there's anyone to be upset at here, it's not the officer.

I also don't know what Clemson has to do with it. The player was never charged with anything. There was obviously no big coverup as all this information is readily available. The solicitor simply declined to press charges. It seems to all hinge on what was in those other phone records. You certainly could not press charges based on the information that's provided in the article.

These cases are always so tricky. For one, the key information is almost always missing and what ends up being submitted as proof are vague text messages that could mean just about anything in wide variety of contexts. He said "I'm sorry" and she replied "It's fine." That's hardly a smoking gun.

As a parent, however, the one thing that really jumped out to me the most is that this mom allowed her 15 year old daughter to date an 18 year old college football player who they knew nothing about. And she let her daughter go off with him to a movie at 11 pm on their first date. Several horrible parenting decisions by the mom here. She gets an F for parenting. The mom should have shut this down at the beginning.

Yep, completely agree. Obviously, neither I nor anyone else here has any clue what actually happened. However, that mom failed as a mom. She put her 15 year old daughter in a situation where she had to make decisions and judgements on things that were WAY over her head. If the mom did her job, the daughter would have never been alone with this guy.

Even considering the rivalry, I don't see how Clemson University is really much of a factor in this. The investigating officer took what appears to be an extremely thorough report. Very clearly nothing was brushed under the rug. To the contrary, it seems though he looked under every stone. The solicitor declined to press charges. I applaud the solicitor for not pressing charges based on the available evidence. That does not mean the claim is not true. The young girl may have very well been sexually assaulted. All the solicitor can do is determine if the evidence available supports charges. If what is included in the article is the evidence, then it's a classic he-said, she-said. It could be anything from genuine rape, to consensual sex with remorse after the fact to totally fabricated.

This all could have been prevented if the mom had an ounce of common sense.
