Anyone else need to fall asleep to TV? If so...

I just found a channel called MeTV that plays Hogans Heros at night. I usually fall asleep the minute the commercials hit, even though I promise my self and the Wife that I'm still watching.

Shalom

MeTV is pretty good. There's a bunch of OTA channels I rediscovered when the pandemic knocked out new programming. Laff TV, AntennaTV, H&I channel, and one other whose name escapes me are all pretty good.

Weeknights is King of Queens for me - rarely make it through the first episode at 10PM central.

My wife and I are total opposites in that regard. She hates silence. I love total darkness, nothing on.

Needless to say, I've learned to just stay downstairs for an extra hour or so each night.

COZI TV has Six Million Dollar Man reruns Saturday night late, like 11pm ct.

HH was hands down my favorite rerun as a kid in the mid 70s. I actually bought the entire series on VCR tape when I was old enough to afford such things. Always makes me sad to think the series never had a final episode.

I used to be this way. Took a good 2 weeks to break the habit but once I got my body used to the idea that the bedroom is for falling asleep, I can now fall asleep within 5-7 minutes of hitting my pillow. Sometimes to the distain of my wife. We’re talking her being mid sentence and me knocking out. Body just knows “oh, I know this place. Time to knock out”

I had a housemate who had to watch Star Trek the Next Generation to go to sleep.

He said it made him feel safe that logical forces were trying to solve the galaxy's mysteries.

I used to listen to music to go to sleep but that's weird.

Little bit of both here. I need glasses or contacts to see the tv and am terrified of breaking my glasses by falling asleep with them on and rolling over on them or the dog flying up at all times of the night and stepping on them, etc. So, if I'll flip something on until I know I'm about to fall asleep and then I'll take them off and turn everything off and fall asleep usually just about immediately.

Whenever we had parties he liked to regale the guests with his rendition of Purple Rain.

Oh man. I hope you got out of that situation asap. Only one person in this world should be singing Purple Rain in a setting that isn't either A) the shower or B) in their car by themselves. That man sadly passed.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Asking for a friend.

Purple Rain is a hard song to play and sing. To me it was a facepalm whenever it happened but he would strut around afterwards like he just rocked a sold out MSG.

And he kicked me out!

I used to fall asleep to the TV until my early 20s when i realized it was actually keeping me awake. I switched to talk radio (Coast to Coast AM is my preferred program) at that point. Then I got married and my wife was constantly turning off my radio because she didn’t like any sounds when going to sleep so I just gave up that. Now, she watches TV to go to sleep which annoys the hell out of me because it’s usually some HGTV crap that drives me insane and I can’t sleep through it.

File that under sitcoms you can’t even think about today. My father used to tell me that even in the 60s, HH was a lightning rod because WWII vets hated that it made German POW camps a farce.

I used to listen to Coast to Coast AM during my bachelor years. I would occasionally have nightmares depending on what topics were being discussed/my current state of mind.

As a married gent, I typically fall to sleep either watching Friends or Golden Girls. I'll usually wake up around 3 and turn off the TV and turn on our sound machine. Luckily my wife is in agreement with me about sleeping with some amount of noise.
