Anyone ever lucky enough to see James Brown live?

Saw him in Vegas about 20 years ago at The House of Blues in Mandalay Bay. He was in town for only that night and we got tickets at the last minute. Great show. Sat behind Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and some young brunette. He had just signed Deion Sanders to a gigantic contract but still had a few bucks to spend.

Graduation year of college, HS buds that went to PSU, Pitt, WVU, Maryland, Muhlenberg gathered for two weekends for New Orleans Jazz fest and then went up to Memphis in May (Beale St Music Fest). Saw a hundred bands easy with James Brown as our encore in Memphis. Top five life positive experience!

Saw him and his huge band at Rec Hall on campus. Somewhere between 1968 and March of ‘71. It was a great show. Everyone thought it was amazing. I can’t remember the exact date.

In the mid 90’s my employer (large financial company) hired JB to sing at our national conference during one of the after dinner parties. I was standing no more than 10 feet from him while he performed. He sounded great and many of us were having a blast, until the balloons were released from above. They landed all over the stage and JB was not happy about that. He stopped singing and waited for them to be cleared. He didn’t seem the same after that. Overall it was a great experience.

Did I see James Brown at Rec Hall in the late 60s or am I dreaming? I think I did.

Favorite line from a James Brown song. "I don't know Karate, but I know crazy! You betta ask somebody..."

Edit. The actual lyrics they say "yes we do", not you better ask somebody.

Its actually "
Lookie here!
Don't do me no darn favor
I don't know Karate but I know Ka-razor"

I believe the 68-69 school year. The band (I believe it was still the Famous Flames) had Rec Hall shaking before JB even came on stage. Great show!
