Anyone think we have a chance in Lexington this weekend?

We can't get swept. State needs to beat Austin Peay tonight and somehow pull 2 out of 3 out of their *** up there. That would get us to 15-16 and 4-8 in the league. I know baseball talk is dead right now, but is Pigott, Weatherford, or Turner expected to be back this weekend?

I could be wrong, but I believe I remember hearing Pigott was out for 2 weeks, Weatherford could be back soon though no real time-table set, and I expect Turner to be in and out of the lineup all season, probably out more than in unfortunately. Also, I heard Cody Freeman was hurt...anyone know anything about that?

That one to SC was extremely costly. If we get swept this weekend you can pretty much hang it up. We also cannot afford to continue dropping midweek games or we can forget reaching .500 overall.

....best case scenario is to lose all 3 badly, but we'll still be ok if we win one, as long as we lose the other two bad.

he twisted it on a swing. He was limping pretty badly. I was pissed that Polk left him in running the way he was.

we win one out three. Don't know why, a sweep certainly is not out of the question.

Like I said, our pitching + small ballpark = home run derby.

Plus, Polk is going to be extra stubborn this weekend to try to show Cohen up, which plays right into UK's hands.

so without pain, so it was looking like he may be back pretty soon. Turner must have 90 year old hammies or something. He and Ray Ray must be related.

just like the last time we were up there (with probably a better team). Polk griped about the short fences after that series.</p>

Has Jim Ellis or any other media type ever pointed out to Polk that the fences are the same distance for both teams?</p>

How dare you question the Legend? How many books on baseball have you written? <sarcasm>

.....people are either openly or secretly pulling against us in hopes that sheep nation won't be able to use a series win over Cohen as ammo to support the promotion of Tommy Raffo. And when our fans do that, it generally blows up in their face. So, we'll win the UK series.

Of course I always believed, and still do, that Raffo would get the job regardless. I also don't think which team wins this series says ANYTHING about any of the coaches, because crazy things happen in baseball. It's the overall body of a coach's work that counts, which means an entire season, career record, championships, etc. Therefore, no matter what happens at UK, Cohen still beats out Raffo. Too bad we'll hire Raffo anyway.

but I think we make a run at the end of the year. Now, when I say "make a run" I'm talking about just having a winning season. Our pitching is starting to get healthy. Crosswhite and Whitney all have pitched pretty well lately, and now Weatherford looks like he is back. Then we get Pigott back (Speculation on my part is that he starts the Governor's Cup). Add those guys to Swindle and Bowen and we SHOULD be better. We also will be done with USC, UGA, UK, Vandy, and Ole Miss- sans the Governor's Cup of course in two weeks. That means we will be playing most of the SEC West teams, who all have been kind of scuffling around as well- not as bad as us of course. The main thing agianst us besides Polk is that three of the four remaining SEC West series are on the road.

Now, if my prediction comes true, it will be interesting to see if a late season run will be credited to Raffo- personally I kind of doubt it. I think most MSU people are ready for change, and Raffo is going to be associated with this Polk regime, whether that is fair or not to him.
