A couple of weeks ago I in my ignorance as a fan I complained about the interior of both the DL and OL lines as well as the fact that we just can't seem to get the ball to wide outs. Well this week the guards and centers played one of the best games I saw them play in the last couple of years. Very physical, creative, and in sync. Also the DL got great pressure up the middle and took over in the 2nd half. Wow how the sacks come when you not only have great edge rushers but significant penetration in the middle. Both Singleton and Allen averaged nearly 6 yds a carry with no run over 14 yards. That's impressive in itself although we all wish they might have broken a long one somewhere in the game. The blocking was very impressive in the interior as well as the tackles and TEs. I'm still a little concerned about the inability to get the ball to WRs. I know Illinois does a good job of keeping things in front of them and trying to stay late into the game within one score but we will really need more explosion to stay with the high-powered offenses we will see with USC and OSU. So far we have done what we needed to do and made nice adjustments. Anyway, yesterdays game proves I should stay as an opinionated fan and maybe don't know as much as I think I do. Great job by both lines.
