is throwing one of the top pitchers in the nation tonight. Announcers right now are also high on our Jurrangelo going against him. They are anticipating a great and interesting pitching matchup tonight. BTW, Cal looks pretty good so far. And the weather looks spectacular!

Starting to see some Maroon filter in to the stadium. Wonder how many made the trip? I went a few years ago and froze to death. This time it looks balmy compared to then. MSU fans made a good decision to go this time. Perfect weather. Wish I'd pull the trigger and gone now.

OU starting to pull away in the bottom of the 8th. Now 8-5, 2 in scoring position, and no outs.

Presumed starter for OSU, control was an issue last season,, but has 18 Ks and only one walk in 13 innings this year.

Isaiah Coupet

Ohio StateLHP
Notes:
Ht: 6-1 | Wt: 190 | B-T: L-L
Commit/Drafted: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 20.8

A 6-foot-1, 190-pound lefthander, Coupet racked up plenty of strikeouts as a Friday and Saturday starter for Ohio State in his 2022 sophomore season. He posted a 5.71 ERA over 64.2 innings and struck out 98 batters—tied for third with Adam Mazur in the Big Ten—but also walked 41. Coupet threw his 88-90 mph fastball less than 50% of the time in 2022, and used a heavy dosage of breaking balls, including a low-70s curve and an upper-70s slider, both of which have high spin rates in the 2,800 rpm range. Coupet has a mid-80s changeup but has rarely used it.

So given the scouting report on this guy that he excels at breaking balls, I still can’t figure out why we started every damned left handed hitter we could. They were all completely shut down.

That was confusing as 17. Clark has been struggling. Sit his *** and play Hujsak or Alford against a leftie. Sit Hines and start Highfill, move Hancock to DH. And DJ sucks at hitting breaking balls worse than a leftie does, yet we leave him in the 3 hole. When I saw the lineup card I knew we were losing.
