supports for the new Jumbotron have been placed on top of the M-Club signifying that construction has begun. For those of you with such knowledge, any chance they get this thing done in the 53 days between now and the Auburn game?

depends on how long byrne "really" made the deal and the led and materials were ordered. Cap says that they have a partner in china meaning they get their parts from over there so it would take several months to actually get them to MS. Also, the structure/support would have to be fabricated which takes a good deal of time. If they had all of the materials or would in the next few weeks it could be done.

beginning of the season, they are banking on it being ready sometime this season? I mean, why have construction going on during the season if that is not the case?

...it's not as if there's going to be a sellout. Heck, I'd be surprised if there were more than 45,000 at the game.

that Nov. 1 vs Kentucky is the first game it will be operational. Anytime before then will be a bonus. Good to hear they're already started, that's a sign that it's ahead of schedule.

nothin. At least nothing visible. In fact there's still some crap on the roof that's going to have to be moved.

Yea, to me the renderings made it look like the jumbotron is not going to in any way connect to whatever the building is in the endzone. It looked to me like a completely separate structure. I'm sure that the footing work to either side of the building will be what you'll see first.

Also, I have no clue about how your contract is set, but do any of you know if there are penalties set in place for Capturion if they don't have the board complete by a certain date?

I know with ours they have really steep penalties in the contract if Daktronics doesn't have the board up and fully functionaly by kickoff on August 30. I think it's something like $25,000 per day. Ole Miss Grad had the exact number. Reason I ask is because from my limited experience with construction, you can't count on a project being done on time without having those type of penalties in place.

thats hilarious...As i figured a number was just thrown out there(oh i can do it for this and get it done by this date and give you all of this) by the "winning bidder" of what they could do it for, and now they are scrambling to find someone to sub it out to. I just want this thing to be right and we get what we pay for. Thats a lot of money, and i want it to be exactly what we paid for and right!</p>

Looks like the subs got to bid GC's by the 25th and contract will probably be awarded Monday/Wednesday range of the following week. This structure is HUGE.. The height to the top is in the 100' plus range.
