Where are you seeing this? I've read about speculation but nothing official. I would think that would dominate headlines if true.

No real news releases yet, maybe Muscleknight = Cooper Manning?

So far I have seen Arch make donations from NIL stuff like cards, etc. to charity, been pretty classy and mature about it for a young guy, surprised he would not enter portal until after the season, to avoid being a distraction to his team.

Arch Manning Donates Over $100K To Charity Thanks To NIL Deal

Texas quarterback Arch Manning was able to use his NIL money to help others.

In this story:

Texas Longhorns

TEXAS LONGHORNS
Texas quarterback Arch Manning is arguably one of the most famous athletes in college sports, and he has yet to play a down of college football.
He hails from the illustrious Manning family that produced three NFL quarterbacks and is expected to follow in his uncle's and grandpa's footsteps. While he hasn't yet seen the field for the Longhorns who are fresh off their first loss of the year against Oklahoma, he has made an impact in the community.

As a part of an NIL deal with Panini America that was able to auction off a card of Manning, the former five-star donated all of the proceeds from the sale to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Not only is the act noble, but it was also a lucrative donation, as Manning's card sold for a whopping $102,500.

For those not familiar, The Ronald McDonald House provides housing and other forms of support for families with children in Central Texas Hospitals. Manning revealed in a speech on Tuesday, that his biggest priority when signing his NIL deal was that the money went to a good cause.
“When I first partnered with Panini to auction off my trading card, I wanted the money to go to a good cause,” Manning said. “Helping children live healthy and fulfilling lives was important to me and my family. With that being said, I’m donating 100% of the proceeds from my trading card to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas.”

When he was being recruited by everyone, one sports writer said if his last name wasn't Manning, he would be a three star qb. The same writer also said some of the schools he played against in HS looked like some sort of Make a Wish football team.

I call it the PCS5SS "Private Christian School 5 Star Syndrome". Unless a kid comes from one of the big Catholic football power high schools who play against larger public schools, most private school kids play against really weak competition.

My thought all along was the Manning name was being recruited and not the player.

With all his resources and family helping him, I’m surprised that he didn’t pick the best school for himself.

Did he even play? If so he made out like a bandit with all that NIL money. If I was a Texas booster and gave Manning a deal I would be mad as a horn.
The plan was always for him to redshirt this year. His family wanted him to not be thrown to the wolves, but gradually take over. The current starter Ewers is NFL headed and Arch will compete for the starting position this spring.

Thanks for the clarification. The internet. Posters can put up anything where it’s true or not. Here’s a kid who should be commended for doing a good thing with his money. Yeshe can afford t but he did not have to give it away. Sounds like he is going to compete for the job,if you are correct. Just like you would expect a athlete to do.

Well, it's not as if this name doesn't carry any value at all. All other factors being equal between two recruits, I'm inclined to give a few bonus points to the one that comes from the Manning family. In addition to spending his entire life surrounded by the game and groomed by a family of Hall of Fame QBs, I'd figure I'm also probably getting a kid who is getting solid and well-reasoned advice from his mature and informed family.

But is he a ''player''? The name is one thing, but demonstrated athletic ability against stiff competition is another. Growing up, I knew many a blood relative of a great athlete who failed miserably trying to live up to the sports family name.

Which is why I said "all other factors being equal."

Eli Manning threw for 7,268 yards during his high school career at Isidore Newman High school, and Arch broke his record with 7,514. Peyton Manning had the Isidore Newman High School record for most career passing touchdowns with 93. Arch Manning broke Peyton's record with 100 career touchdown passes. So I would say he has more than held up the family name.

So Texas is up 50-7 over Texas Tech near the end of the 3rd quarter. Arch Manning just entered the game to cheers. So far an incomplete pass and rushed for 7 yards. Lots of 3rd teamers in now. He isn't ever going in the portal.
