the ticket office. They had no record that I had ordered tickets. Got stuck w/ sorry tickets. Around the 1st of Oct. I get a call from the ticket office saying they had received ANOTHER ticket order and wanted to make sure I still wanted 4 more. Turns out it was the original order. Thanks U.S. Postal Service.

More likely that the original order got misplaced by our crack ticket office staff and finally turned up several months later than that it floated around the U.S. Post Office that long before being delivered. This is one part of the athletic dept. that I expect Byrne to make some real improvements in. </p>

Everything shows up correctly on dogtag so I know it's in the system. But no tickets yet.

is when they told me students can get theirs. Expect me to be near the front of the line on the day they open for students.

on the date for the tickets, that is. I don't have any idea about expectations about you being at the front of the line.

2008 MSU Student Football Ticket Information:
• Mississippi State students are encouraged to pick up season football tickets for six home football games at the ticket office located in the Bryan Athletic Administration Building during Student Ticket Days (Aug. 25 - Sept. 5, 2008). To be eligible for student tickets, you must be enrolled on the MSU main campus for the 2008 Fall Semester and not have any holds on your record. Each student must bring their own valid MSU student I.D. An $18 charge will be added to your Accounts Receivable account.
PLEASE NOTE: Students will also be able to pick up tickets after the season begins, but will still pay the full $18.
So, are you saying that student tickets are limited in number?

they should be able to hire whoever they want(better and brighter employees) without all the red tape that most agencies have to go through. You are correct that ultimately they are state employees, but they are not subject to the disadvantages of running everything by SPB regs.

But, everyone I talk to at the university has some horror story to tell about someone that works in their department that is absolutely useless and apparently cannot be fired absent them taking a piss on Watson's desk in his presence. One person in a academic department tells me about one person that very litterally does nothing. Nothing. Sits at a desk and does nothing. I don't mean they aren't very productive, or they screw up. I mean, they do absolutely no work.

Now, maybe the ticket office isn't under that same scheme. I don't know.

The academic side of the University receives a lot of state funding. The athletic dept. receives none. Seems to me that would make a big difference in how many of the state's rules the two sides would have to follow.

However, I am betting on the fact that University employees are the same regardless of the department. I mean, there are people at the university whose positions are entirely funded by federal dollars. I'm sure if that funding dries up, they are history.

and I must say, the fact that you can get ten 35-40 yd line seats together after one year of giving is amazing. Only 18 rows up also. I'd probably barely crack the upper deck at UT, so I guess I should be happy
