Jones has pitched well thus far and giving us a chance.
If you're going to strike out, at least swing the bat and something good might happen.

One run is not gonna win a lot of games either. Our pitching is killing us.
True, but we are always in a deep hole trying to come back. One run is not gonna win a lot of games either.
Agreed. Liked Jones tonight and I kinda get getting him out of there before the wheels fall off in his first Friday start and probably not his last. I'm gonna write this off as a step in the right direction. Still feel we have the guys in the bullpen to get it done. Just need a better plan... I hope.True, but we are always in a deep hole trying to come back.
Excellent start by Jones and I like him as a Friday night starter. I'm sure pulling him had to do with pitch count as well.Agreed. Regardless tho, we have to hit the freaking ball.
Thats exactly what I see as well. Gotta think it's more of a mindset than anything else. Hoping that proves easier to fix than say mechanical issues but they are running out of time.Excellent start by Jones and I like him as a Friday night starter. He gave us a chance but still no hitting to speak of and a lot of called strikes - it's like everyone is looking for a BB.
The aggressive hitting mentality seems to have left the ballpark - even Petry seems impacted (looks fatigued and unfocused).Thats exactly what I see as well. One thing is we are leaving a lot of guys on base. We can obviously show great discipline at getting a free base, which is great, but when the time comes to put the ball in play, it sure seems we're having a tough time knocking the rust off actually earning a base. I'm a big believer in the importance of reps. If we are losing reps (swings), we are losing agressiveness... that's my theory anyway.I’m at loss guys, i see what your saying but remember walks and hbp has been a big part of our offense all year long fatiguing starters and getting into their bullpen, heck we might have led the nation at bb and hbp at one time and everyone here was oohing and ahhing at our new found plate disipline and it was working perfectly, but again we still have to make them pay by putting the ball in play which has been mia for several weeks now! I still have hope though and as red said, hope is a dangerous word!
I always said to myself the difference in a decent golfer and a good golfer is if you get going sideways with your swing mid-round a good golfer could always make that adjustment to get on track, it seems with the staff we have we could have gotten these guys back on track during the last three weeks. I’m willing to conceed some of these guys haven’t been able to get the reps needed to stay in form, but it’s time to get back in the groove and today would be a great place to start. One thing is we are leaving a lot of guys on base. You’re right. We really did a lot of just taking advantage of the other teams poor play. We aren’t getting any of that down the stretch. Looks like a lot of fools gold with this squad. And the pitching has just been underwhelming based on the hype.I’m at loss guys, i see what your saying but remember walks and hbp has been a big part of our offense all year long fatiguing starters and getting into their bullpen, heck we might have led the nation at bb and hbp at one time and everyone here was oohing and ahhing at our new found plate disipline and it was working perfectly, but again we still have to make them pay by putting the ball in play which has been mia for several weeks now! The reps I'm referring to is actual game play at the plate. If we are not swinging at anything close and protecting the plate at all times we are getting rusty for when we decide we have to. The number of called 3rd strikes is alarming to say the least and shouldnt be happening under any circumstances at any point in a game. Mind numbing.I always said to myself the difference in a decent golfer and a good golfer is if you get going sideways with your swing mid-round a good golfer could always make that adjustment to get on track, it seems with the staff we have we could have gotten these guys back on track during the last three weeks. Agree. And not just called 3rd strikes - the number of grooved 1st strikes taken is totally alarming. The reps I'm referring to is actual game play at the plate. Overthinking and lack of confidence doesn't allow you to make that adjustment. I'm basing this on your golf analogy, because it applies to my game from time time.I always said to myself the difference in a decent golfer and a good golfer is if you get going sideways with your swing mid-round a good golfer could always make that adjustment to get on track, it seems with the staff we have we could have gotten these guys back on track during the last three weeks. The 8 and 9 each have a hit, but this needs to improve alot. Almost like playing with 7 batters. Very poor bunt attempts etc....Tonight's lineup looks to make more sense. Hope it works out
Gotta get everyone hitting. I do like our runs have all come off singles. Step in the right direction if you ask me. Also like at least attempting to have speed in the first two batters. Anything else seems blasphemous. The 8 and 9 each have a hit, but this needs to improve alot. Almost like playing with 7 batters. Very poor bunt attempts etc....
Cant believe we cant pull back on a high pitch. Bunting 101... dont bunt a high pitch.Based on recent attempts, you would think we never practice bunting!
That's one I'd hate to count with all the other called strikeouts. Just cant swing at thatStrike 3 to LeCroy was very strange to say the least - late and questionable!
Thought the 3b was going to throw to first - but he didn'tWho in the world told him to go for third. Drives me crazy
