I'm thinking Hicks. Looks like Becker, hopefully short leash.Needed that badly to break the bad momentum. Nice win.
Who throws tomorrow?
I don't recall seeing many posts from you earlier in the season.....if you did then I apologize. However, this "free fall" and "fool's gold" that you reference can be directly attributed to the rash of injuries to key players. We are just now beginning to get some of these injured players back in the lineup. The team I saw yesterday did not play a perfect game but they did not look "completely done" to me nor did Mahoney and Veach appear to be "underwhelming." Let's let these next 5 games play out before making any such ridiculous statements. This team just looks completely done. I remember @fog22 was positive that this year would prove all of us wrong who thought Kingston should’ve been fired last year. If this free fall continues, I just don’t think Kingston is cut out for the job. Not a bad coach. Just not championship caliber.
Players know the total wins in conference play of 15 makes the tournament very high % of the time. IMO they have that burden off them, play loose, confident and let your talent take over. Game is easier that way....Big win yesterday. Today's game could the turnaround we've been waiting for.
Agreed. Shouldnt be any pressure on until the regionals. Probably a good thing at this point. We need some home cooking next weekend, and then a short stay in Hoover. It's all about getting healthy and getting ready for the regional now.
Lose next weekend and we aren't even hosting a regional. Looks like everything has crash landed now.We need some home cooking next weekend, and then a short stay in Hoover. It's all about getting healthy and getting ready for the regional now.
Really hope he isn't the next John Jones.Someone has stolen Ethan Petry and replaced him with Mark Belanger. Hope he returns for the TN series!
The injuries have mostly been position players. The pitching and defense have not been good enough most of the year. I have been a cautious optimist all season, but even early in the season something was missing. We were winning at an impressive rate but this team just didn’t seem as good as the results. We took a lot of walks. You really can’t count on that in the postseason. In other words, I kinda thought we were similar to last years UT without the pitching. But yeah, the next time we lose 6 out of 7 games, I will just keep quite. No reason to alarm the blind loyalist who love and accept mediocrity from a once elite program.I don't recall seeing many posts from you earlier in the season.....if you did then I apologize. Hard to understand some of the thoughts on here, we are still a top 10-15 team with a top 5 rpi, but we talk about firing our coach and be ing blind loyalist stuck in mediocrity! I don’t remember seeing a lot on here saying this is where we would be pre-season, so I’ll be optimistic and continue to pull for the entire team staff and all!The injuries have mostly been position players. Right on cue!!! You have made 8 posts regarding this year's baseball team and every one of them has been negative. You had very little to say when we were 36-8 before the injuries began to pile up. I'll never understand people like you....The injuries have mostly been position players. The pitching and defense have not been good enough most of the year. Some people just live for someone or something to fail, just so they can get satisfaction of saying I told you so! SadRight on cue!!! Yeah, and we should be based on resume. It’s just concerning to lose this much late in the year. Do you think getting everybody back will just fix the bad play?Hard to understand some of the thoughts on here, we are still a top 10-15 team with a top 5 rpi, but we talk about firing our coach and be ing blind loyalist stuck in mediocrity! That’s not me. I just miss the confidence we had as fans in the Tanner days. You knew you were going to get the maximum ability of every team every year. I don’t think that’s been true in almost a decade. Some people just live for someone or something to fail, just so they can get satisfaction of saying I told you so! Sad
I can’t answer that, I just know what I saw on the field was the best basball I’ve seen around here in quite a while! We really miss Noah Hall, he could close a series or turn it into giving you a chance on Sunday with Mahoney and that was big! I think if you flipped this season around and had started slow and were as hot as we were to start we wouldn’t be hearing all this negativity which is sort of odd too me, a lot of these negative nellie would have already given up or be back on the bandwagon!Yeah, and we should be based on resume. Revisionist history at its finest. That’s not me. I just miss the confidence we had as fans in the Tanner days. You knew you were going to get the maximum ability of every team every year. I don’t think that’s been true in almost a decade.
Gorilla ball gave sporadic results then just as it does when we drift toward there now. Count me as one who wasn't all that confident with what we were doing most of Tanner's time here. The way I remember it was Tanner did not achieve success at the highest level until he adapted a more multidimensional approach and a willingness to play smallball. Not sure he would have made that adjustment had changes not been made to the ball and then bats by the ncaa during that time. I do give Tanner a lot of credit on how he lead the way during that era as opposed to following what others were doing... basically showing everyone how its done. We have two National Championships because of it imo... almost three. Do we win anything of significance if the ball didn't change? I kinda doubt it because imo it forced Tanner to change for the better when he probably wouldn't have. That’s not me. I just miss the confidence we had as fans in the Tanner days. You knew you were going to get the maximum ability of every team every year. I don’t think that’s been true in almost a decade.
Baseball is all about being hot at the right time. Look at Clemson… I just don’t look at our program and make excuses. And that’s a lot of what I see. It’s just been the norm around here. The great start was nice, but you only remember it if it’s followed by a strong finish.I can’t answer that, I just know what I saw on the field was the best basball I’ve seen around here in quite a while! They were consistently a national seed. That’s not revisionism.Revisionist history at its finest.
There was no reason to post earlier in the season bc my concerns would’ve gotten the same response. I didn’t trust Kingston last year and it’s proving he’s not good enough yet again. Just watch this disaster of a game tonight.I don't recall seeing many posts from you earlier in the season.....if you did then I apologize. More revisionism. Take off the nostalgia glasses. Ray Tanner coached for 16 years. 5 of those, we were national seeds. That's consistent now? Give me a break. They were consistently a national seed. That’s not revisionism.
15 years then is equal to 5 now. It took time but once it got rolling they were a national power for a decade.More revisionism. Take off the nostalgia glasses. Ray Tanner coached for 16 years. 5 of those, we were national seeds. That's consistent now? Give me a break.
