He was a solid DC, which is why I was shocked at how bad we were in that regard last year.
You mean 23 or 24? He wasn’t our DC either year. In hindsight he obviously should have kept the offensive staff intact if he could, and focused almost all of his attention on defense. Should have used the same approach as Leach except reverse the roles - head coach that runs the defense and is completely hands off the offense.

So bottom line, how much is that reducing our payout?

Which should allow for more payout to anyone else in the future. I know. CH ain't going nowhere.

This is what I’m excited about! How much more deadweight do we have on the MSU coaching salary teet?

He's a good DC. There was a reason Leach wanted him and thought he'd be a good promotion. His immaturity is what got him, he let our toxic fan culture permeate his brain.

Saw where Mullen is getting "only" $3.5M/year in a 5 year deal at UNLV. Would he have come back to State for a bit more than that? Or maybe a LOT more than that?

At the time we were looking for a coach, he got on a podcast and someone asked him about whether he’d go back. He made some statement about “never say never but i don’t see it”. He then hedged after that. It felt like a “yes, absolutely” to me when I heard it. I’m pretty confident he would’ve come back for what we are paying Lebby
