We all know if you want to be able to compete in this conference you have to be able to win in the trenches.
It starts with the DL and OL.

A great DL can make a mediocre secondary look very good. There is a tremendous talent gap right now. This is the worst defensive front at Mississippi State in the past 30 years.

If Arnett wants to stay in Starkville for a while he will need to start flipping some of the in-state DL recruits or work his *** off in the transfer portal and get lucky...probably needs to do both.

Hail State.

Sounds like you need to donate to NIL. Because what happens if we do flip those guys? They can leave at any time if you don't pay them once they break out and have a good season.

Maybe not 30 years, but possibly the worst since 2012. You'd probably have to go back to Croom to find one worse than that. So this one is definitely in the discussion for worst in last 15 years.
We've been spoiled for at least a decade having future NFL Pro bowler type talent on the line.

Didn't recruit well enough on defense all those athlete spots we used to sign on defense are now at receiver waiting on reps

I think the 5 or 6 year guys may be part of the problem. If they had been better they wouldn't be here.
Our CBs probably masked our lack of DL talent. Forbes and Emerson made it easy to be aggressive with our front 7. Wheat came up and played on the edge a lot too. We have no one getting pressure from the edge.

Actually, Croom had some pretty good defenses. It was his offense that got him into hot water. We just couldn't score.

E erybody loved them last year. Remember, this defense was carrying the Air Raid. Let's not get our stories twisted up....lol
We lost a lot of talent off that defense. This isn't the same defense. LBs have alway been slow as hell. But we had Wheat to help hide it. We had Forbes on the backend. Lost three safeties. Lost our best DL. Lost Charlton too. We don't have talent on this defense. Pickering might be the best.

This should have been a great year to shore up our D line talent...

Yeah, so much for wrapping up Mississippi. I gotta give credit to Coach Bump tho. If he can hold onto them he did his part. We all looking at you Coach Turner.
