You know the Kerry McCoy article brought back memories. All of the talk about whether a wrestler out of high school needs a year to red shirt or not. Kerry McCoy is another example of how tough it is for a good wrestler to crack the lineup as a true freshman.
Bear with me here because my memory is good but doesn't last so long. I remember Kerry being thrown into the fire at a loaded 190# wt. class. I remember his taking quite few losses. After his first year He came back with a vengeance, not sure who was the most vicious snapping down on the head, McCoy or Nolf?
There again I think he started as a true freshman, now I'm going to have to look it up.

My memory is OK. Here are some stats that are mind blowing.
Kerry was 19-17 as a freshman, from then on he was 131-1.
Don't be so quick to dismiss what a kid does as a freshman.
