I posted a few weeks ago that I assumed this would be his fate. Don't know why he wasn't able to break though here but had very high hopes when we brought him in. Don't think he even got a single carry this year.

As we have seen, the grass isn't always greener.

Interesting that I heard Beamer say he had had player meeting today - then we get a flurry of portal entries. Was Braswell told he wouldn’t see PT? Bad evaluation?

This is the downside of the portal. Coaches are going to have to tell some players they recruited to leave to make room for players coming in from other schools. At least these players can now put themselves “on the market “ by going in the portal. There have always been highly regarded high school players that were not able to make the transition to the college game.

He was a very highly rated back coming out of high school. No idea why he couldn't find the field here, but I wouldn't necessarily say a bad evaluation. Some players just don't transition well, for any number of reasons. Maybe his speed didn't translate. Couldn't pick up blocking. Who knows?

In a strange sort of way these coach meetings where players are told to look around benefits both the team and the player. The talent gets spread around and positions of need are filled through the portal. It brings a lot more parity into the game. Shane needed a linebacker and edge last year and ended up with the two best players on D.

You’re right that this does bring some parity to the game. Plus today’s players don’t want to wait to play.
