It'll be interesting to see how Dabo responds. In the past he's shown a knack for making right assistant hires. Obviously, the Riley hire hasn't produced the results anyone wanted, but Clemson is also lacking the dynamic skill players they had in past years. As much as Watson and Lawrence were the keys to their success, they were loaded across the board on offense and defense.
It looked like they were on the verge of becoming QBU when they nabbed DJ all the way from California as the #2 QB in the country. Then they snagged Klubnik from Texas, and he was the top-ranked QB in his class. DJ obviously didn't pan out. Klubnik is off to a rough start. On top of that, they missed on their top 4 or 5 QB targets for the recent class.
So it appears Dabo is back where he was about 2010. He worked recruiting magic and made great assessments for assistant hires that kickstarted their success. Time will tell if he can do it again. A lot has changed since then.
