That series has been awesome and I've rarely been glued to a documentary like I was with Pony Express and The Best That Never Was. There were plenty of other good ones, but those two were incredible. I really hope that ESPN continues with this series because there are plenty of other huge historical stories that I'd love to see them revisit.

With that said, I'm sure that this is a stupid question but what in the world does the 30 for 30 reference mean? Is it nothing more than the fact that there are 30 films? The whole time that I've been watching them, I've felt certain that there must be some other significance but I can't figure out what the hell it is.

30 significant stories during the 30 years of ESPN (1979-2009). the series was so successful, they continued to produce documentaries. they're in the mid-30's now i think, but still call it 30 for 30.

So the stories were all from that time period; basically anything pre-1980's was off limits. And it's the best thing ESPN's done in a looooooong time (time wasting drivel like Who's More Now, for example).

The best that never was and pony excess is worth the price. But the Reggie miller one, Tim Richmond, and without bias are my favorites too. I remember dad saying how great Bias would have been and I always thought Tim Richmond died in a crash before I saw that.

When that one was first being shown, I was honestly expecting it to be one of the worst ones. Not that it wasn't a decent story, but I just didn't remember there being enough to it in order to warrant an entire documentary about it. Anyway, after watching it, I'd probably put it in the Top 5 also. The constant jabs that were going back and forth between Reggie and Spike Lee were epic, and there were several times where something serious could have happened.

Of all the episodes I've seen most were down right boring or bad, there have only been a couple I thought were interesting to moderately good

Hank Gathers is good from loyola marymount and afterwards they made that deep tourney run. My favorite was probably "Run ricky Run" on Ricky Williams....man that dude was bad ***.

There were countless ones that I found riveting. I have a friend who played for the U, and he said the documentary was spot on. This thing would be a bargain if it just had the one on Marcus Dupree, the two Escobars and Pony Excess.<div>
