No defense for those free passes. This team needs to get healthy in a hurry. We need the bats to come alive today.

Good thing Mahoney was able to field that ball with our 2nd baseman in right field

When did we start this shift thing - don't remember doing it when we were winning 30+ games.
Not sure exactly but at some point we went from shifts to getting cute with it. We keep guarding against that hit up the middle when I see far more balls hit to the traditional 2nd baseman spot... but no one's there. Kinda feel like we need to throw the scouting report in the nearest trashcan

I hate to be a negative Nancy but, we really cannot afford to lose this series. If you look at how the other SEC teams are doing particularly in the east, losing this series will be a disaster.

We're doing some good things at the plate. Still look pretty good for the most part. Just gotta keep plugging away

We are striking out looking and Auburn is swinging away. How do you take that pitch?

It's been said many times. We just need to get healthy. We are one of the most dangerous teams in the country at full strength. Not many teams in the country could afford to lose their top three infielders and better hitters and not hit a wall at some point. Were hitting that wall it looks like.

Yep, and again, the series loss sucks for sure. Nobody wants to lose a series, but sweeping Florida gave us some room for error to still lock up a national seed. Would love to see a comeback here though.

I see some on here calling Auburn average, an average sec is a very good college baseball team, just look at last years NC. I heard on SEC now Auburn has 6 guys hitting 330, that tells me all i need to know. Our starting pitching has given up runs all year, but we have been able to outscore people, with all our injuries lately this has gotten tougher to do, i’m going to take it as a bump in the road, just like uf, vandy and arkansas did last week and are all looking to sweep this weekend, it’s sec baseball and anything can happen. We’ll see if it’s a trend soon enough with uk, arky and ut to follow!

Maybe it is time to look for a couple of new starting pitchers for the week end. These guys never seem to get tru the first couple of innings. mid week starters and bull pen seem to have better production, don't beat many teams hitting into so many double plays. Also why leave the pitchers in the game until we get so far behind. just asking

They might not understand the concept of overthinking things 😕

They hit well most of year. I was thinking, clutch 2 out RBI hits are like a good short game in golf, they cover up other weaknesses.

I hate to second guess the coaching staff, they should know by now who needs to start (see Sanders week off) and this is our first losing streak at home, so as fans we may be overreacting! And another thing is when you’re down 4 runs in the first you can’t just pull the kid, that’s just not what you do with a guy thats performed all year long. Also, a 4 run lead in the first has to give the opposing pitcher some comfort to just go out and throw strikes and let his defense work, it is an extra bonus for them and they’ve taken advantage of it.

I've noticed a trend of taking a lot of called strikes. Particularly 1st pitch down the middle and 3rd strikes.
Maybe all the BB's we've received have made us less aggressive but you have to take your swings on strikes down the middle when available, and protect the plate on 2 strike counts.
To Auburn's credit, they take their swings aggressively and don't leave the bat on their shoulders often.
