“They do a tremendous job of just selling the University,” Fountain said. “The great thing about our Tigerettes and Tiger Hosts is they do it all for free. They do it because they love Auburn.”
Scott Fountain is/was the Auburn football operations coordinator and should know that they are getting paid.

Recruiting 101: Official visits
Bryan Matthews
AUBURN -- Official visit weekends are often the grand finale of a long recruiting process as schools put their best foot forward during an all-expenses paid weekend.
Prospects are allowed to spend 48 hours on campus and during that time they’ll tour all the athletic and academic facilities, and spend time with coaches, players and academic officials.
“It gives them a chance to get a good feel for Auburn,” Auburn football operations coordinator Scott Fountain said. “More than anything, we just want them to feel like they’re part of the Auburn family when they leave.”
It all gets started on Friday as prospects arrive and get to hang out with coaches and players and have dinner before a night out with their player host. But the prospects won’t be out too late because they’ll have a full schedule on Saturday.
After breakfast with the coaching staff, the recruits will begin a full day of tours, meetings, food and fun. They will meet and learn about every aspect of the football program including strength and conditioning, sports medicine, equipment and academic advisors.
This Saturday at Auburn will offer a unique opportunity as the recruits will attend the BCS Championship celebration at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Guiding the prospects and their families through all the tours and meetings will be Auburn’s student support group, the Tigerettes and Tiger Hosts.
“They do a tremendous job of just selling the University,” Fountain said. “The great thing about our Tigerettes and Tiger Hosts is they do it all for free. They do it because they love Auburn.”
Perhaps the most important part of the weekend is the relationship the coaches are able to build with the recruit and his family. They’ll have specific meetings set up with their position coaches and coordinators.
“They spend quality time with the coach talking football but also they may go to a coaches’ house or have dinner with the coach and his family,” Fountain said. “We try to give them an opportunity to see the coach on the coaching side and also on the family side.”
The prospects will spend Saturday night with their player hosts again and then Sunday morning they’ll meet with coach Gene Chizik before heading home.
“We just try to convince them that this is the best place for them and they can see themselves here for the next four years,” Fountain said. </div>
