You have to keep your emotions in check at all times. Definitely doesn't sound like a good situation.

What i read sounded like a fight. Football players have gotten a slap on the wrist for something similar.

Charged her with assault and kidnapping to be sure she accepts a plea of assault with the promise to drop the kidnapping charge. Lesbi honest, she’ll be back.

Probably get a slap on the wrist too. You know, the "priviledge" of athletes.
So, you're saying she's guilty and the charges will be dismissed because she's an athlete without knowing anything about the case. And no, it's not common sense.

We let Watkins go and she has 25-30 scholarship offers before she packs her things. Everyone needs to relax and make a calm and informed decision before we do anything.

Im not presuming guilt. I am saying that the entire process will be handled differently than if it were me or you.

If you're not presuming guilt, why say she'll get a slap on the wrist? That presumes guilt.

I suspect the process will play out as many of these domestic incidents play out nationwide.

I might also add that, when women lose their $h!t, it's unbridled in a way men seldom achieve. I went to public school. I know what I've seen. Hot OMighty.

So if the victim says no one hit her, will the assault charge be dropped?

I assume the kidnapping charge was from Watkins grabbing her when she was on the ledge and police seeing that?

New details of Gamecock women’s basketball star Ashlyn Watkins arrest revealed in incident report

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - New details were revealed about the arrest of the University of South Carolina’s (USC) women’s basketball player Ashlyn Watkins in a incident report from campus police.

Watkins was arrested by campus police on Saturday, Aug. 31 after an incident at an on-campus affiliated apartment complex at 650 Lincoln Street.
She was charged with assault and kidnapping, but maintained her innocence through her lawyer and state representative Todd Rutherford.

According to the police report, officers made contact with Watkins and the victim, who has not been identified, on the third floor of the garage after hearing someone scream for help and Watkins saying the victim was going to jump while holding her back.

The victim, who was listed in the report as a juvenile, told officers she was trying to get away from Watkins after they had gotten into an argument.

The report went on to say the victim said Watkins believed she was cheating on her after she helped a sick friend on the second floor.
Watkins described the victim as “her girlfriend,” the report added.
The report claimed Watkins admitted to grabbing her and walking outside after finding out she was with a friend.

Watkins said the two then went to her room to let out her dog before the victim ran through the parking garage and lifted herself up onto the ledge, the report read.

Watkins told officers she wrapped her arms arounds around the victim because she thought she was going to jump off the ledge, the report stated.

The report said after stating to an officer multiple times Watkins hit her, the victim later told officers Watkins did not hit her and she did not want the officer’s help.

The victim also said she was not trying to jump off the parking garage ledge, the report said.

Other details in the report claimed the victim “became uncooperative and continued to try to speak with Watkins and move closer to her” and Watkins would not let the victim use her phone to call her mother.

EMS determined the victim was not suicidal and cleared her without transport, according to the report.

When officers could not reach the victim’s parents by telephone, the report stated a Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputy was sent to their home. Deputies reached her mother by phone, who agreed to meet officers at the police department, where the victim was released.

Watkins was eventually taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, the report said.

She was granted a $30,000 personal recognizance bond and her first appearance hearing is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 25.

“We just ask for patience as we unpack what happened two nights ago,” Rutherford said. “We firmly believe when all the facts come out this will simply be a misunderstanding and she maintains her innocence throughout this entire process.”

Watkins, a junior at USC, was a pivotal piece during the Gamecocks’ undefeated championship season.

As a Columbia native who attended Cardinal Newman, the forward was named the South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year in 2022 before committing to the Gamecocks.

I can't speak for him, but from my perspective it could mean, because of her status, she'll get a slap on the wrist EVEN IF she is guilty.

If she's innocent, it's a moot point.

What you said.
Some folks just want to argue and some folks think winning a game is more important than holding a person accountable no matter how well they can play a silly game.
Its a given that no one is guity until its proven.

Watkins must be dropped from the team. Can't allow thug culture to infiltrate this awesome program that Dawn Staley worked so hard to build. Like another member said: "Actions have consequences".

Underage victim in a "relationship" with Watkins. This sounds like a real classy thing to be affiliated with SC WBB. What would have happened if the player was a football player and there was an underage victim. I'm thinking immediate dismissal from the team.

Of course suspension lifted once there was an actual investigation, only one side of incident reported by police/press. Police way over charged - IMO

Yep/ I heard that on TV this am. As others have said, this was pretty much a nothing-burger. I bet if it would have happened with the team in the upstate, it would have never even made the news.
