Just saw a report about this on the Web. The report says they kick it off this summer, and will be playing 10 cities. They are playing the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco, which is a great concert venue. The report added that the opening band for them will be either The Tubes or KC and the Sunshine Band. (I guess it will depend on the date in question as to which band opens for them.) Would love to see them with KC.

Went to www.b52s.com and was able to access the tour dates and click on a reminder button re ticket purchases. Tickets apparently go on sale a few days from now (October 29).

Edit: Whoops! The tickets go on sale on April 29. October 29 is the date that they play in San Francisco.

KC lives in Durham and I met him a couple of times when I lived there. Once was after he sang the National Anthem at a Durham Bulls game. That was cool.

After the tour, they are each going to retire to their own Private Idahos.
Somewhat off topic but...
I was in Joshua Tree last year and Kate Peirson has a retro RV park near The Integration.
The old Silver Stream RV's are very popular now as VRBO's.
Just thought it was pretty cool...

Saw them at the Mann Music Center in Philly back in the early 90s. They put on an incredible show. I have been trying to take in any 80s group or similar that are on tour. Saw the Psychedelic Furs here in State College, also saw Los Lobos and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Kicking myself for not seeing Echo and The Bunnymen and Toots and The Maytals when they passed thru State College a few years ago. Seems like there are a lot of these older 80s type bands on tour. Duran Duran is on tour, Tears for Fears, Joe Jackson, etc.

Oh my goodness. One of my "formative Penn State memories" was the first weekend "quad party" or whatever it was called in North Halls, and I distinctly remember hearing "Rock Lobster" blaring on the speakers. I thought it was a great song (still do although I haven't listened to it in years) at the time. Well, it makes sense...they're retiring and I am ready to do that meself!

The moral of this is that it’s really hard to make “retirement” money in the music business. You’re either lining someone else’s pockets or living an unsustainable “star” lifestyle.

Duran Duran and Tears for Fears surprise me. I’d have thought they’d be more set for life. Maybe Simon wasn’t writing his own songs?

I saw that one of Tears for Fears still has younger kids (daughter who plays with him). Maybe that’s a second marriage costs type of thing.

I don't think Joe Jackson has ever stopped touring and recording albums. Not as prolific as he was in the 80s, but he still releases an album every 4 or 5 years.

Would love to party with them. Really distinct sound and look (for their era).

The only real way for musicians to make $$ now is touring and merch. Music streaming is not profitable for musicians at all.

I saw them at Bucknell back in 1983. Four of us drove over from Sate College and had a blast. Funny, but this concert doesn't show up on their tour history page. The only reference I was able to find was in a photography gallery that the photographer was selling a picture of their keyboardist at the Bucknell concert.

Saw KC & Co. on New Year's eve in Orlando. The next morning went to the Citrus Bowl to see Clemson blast us the year after we won our 2nd natty. Champagne hangover & 83 degrees on 2 hrs. sleep. Church St. Station was outrageous.

I walked out of KC in Las Vegas. It was the only concert I’ve ever left. They were horrible.

First saw the B52s at the Ontario Theater up in the Adam’s Morgan neighborhood of DC. Pretty certain it was their first tour. Late 70s/ early 80s. All original members at that point.

Saw them in 1994 at the 40Watt in Athens. I think it was Super Bowl weekend when the Bills and Cowboys played in Atlanta. Really great show.
