B1G dust settling now - where does Penn State football go from here?

Where does Penn State football want to be in 2024 when UCLA and USC join the conference? Is the new administration willing to make a move if the wins and losses don't get better than what we've seen the last two seasons? I think this is going to be interesting to watch. And I'll go a step further and throw a name out that'll drive many crazy - but he's currently out of a job - Urban Meyer.

No thanks, Mrs. Meyer.

The good news is there will be at least one other team to challenge OSU each year. The bad news is it wonā€™t be PSU. So, get ready for SC and OSU to run things for the most part. To me, thatā€™s better than what we have now.

Why would this change anything for big ten football programs? They are either trying to be the best or working to become or remain relevant. Penn State is in the former group. Of course, USC provides another blue blood program to compete for the crown, but adding the two LA teams brings more status for recruiting and more money in the tv deal.

it was better than your opener was
Why? How do you think a James Franklin coached Penn State team is going to stack up against a Lincoln Riley coached USC team? Heck, UCLA for that matter? Do we want to be a middle of the pack B1G team, or do we want to compete at the highest level? I believe an Urban Meyer coached Penn State team heading into 2024, based on what I have seen from the James Franklin tenure at Penn State, looks really intriguing. It gets us in the conversation. Remember the rumors before the scandal of Meyer coming to Penn State to replace Paterno? I do. If there's another coach who can get us to that level please name him. 1986 is a really long time ago.

Seems 7-6 is just fine with many of the folks here. Having a head coach, a former QB in college, not knowing by the 5th game of the season last year, or the 6th, who the best option at QB was behind Clifford is OK. A team unable to develop a solid O-line eight years into his tenure as head coach is OK. A team after losing to Iowa was still 5-1 with a lot to play for but instead after a bye week came out and played one of the worst football games you will ever see slamming the door on the rest of the season is OK. I was lucky enough to be an undergrad the beginning of the 1980's and even more fortunate to have been in New Orleans for the first national championship. I want the program to reach those heights again and don't believe we currently have the coach to do it.
