For those of you that follow this stuff…Do we have the pitching staff to really compete in the SEC and beyond this year? I know we have big bats, but just curious if you experts think we have the full team to get back to that certain place.

Funny you should ask this question.
It's the only reason I can think of as I ponder being ranked behind ECU.
Maybe they think our pitching is lacking? Other SEC teams have some big time pitching so I guess we will be finding out very soon if our hitting can support less than stellar pitching. Our Saturday and Sunday pitching has been good but not great and on Friday's we have been very fortunate to win all but one game.

We have the potential. Until Sanders gets more consistent, we will need our bullpen to sustain. It's still a long season.
Not necessarily singling out Sanders, I'm sure other starters will hit that bump in the road.
Bottom line, I'm hoping our bullpen continues to get stronger.

FWIW: The only thing this board knows about pitching is they can’t hit it.

Good hitting teams need good pitching... not necessarly stellar. I think we have that in our starters. Our depth is what matters more than anything imo. We certainly have that as well... at least compared to years past.
I'll say this, pitching was an excuse used by many last year. It should not be an excuse this year. This year should come down to decisions made at the plate and how successful are we at those imo.

Agree, bullpen will be a key to our success! We don't have complete game starters as a rule, maybe on occasion.

We definitely have the staff to compete in the sec and beyond. At least up to and through a regional. Once you get to the super, everyone has really good pitching. Sanders has all the tools, just needs to dial it in. Hall has been really good since about midway through the season last year, and I’m not sure anyone in the sec has any better Sunday starter than we do with Mahoney. He struggled some Saturday but when you’re taking iv fluids before the game for a stomach bug, that’s to be expected. I’m not sure I’ve seen a deeper bullpen at Carolina, at least since Tanner arrived, than what we have this year. The only knock I can see is that we haven’t identified a true closer yet, like Blackwell, Price, Gronk , Taylor. Austin, Williamson, and Veach are some good options

Actually this year’s pitching is probably deeper than Tanner’s 2004 team and they ended up winning the sec tournament, as well as going on to the CWS. Not saying they will win the sec or go to the CWS this year, but quality pitching depth shouldn’t be an issue

Glad to see the coaches have been paying attention to our Friday night pitching struggles and are giving Jones an opportunity to step up tomorrow night. Hopefully it's another smart move as instincts have been pretty good so far!
